- HISTORY: Long, long ago, what should have been a Shiny Magikarp ended up evolving prematurely. For you see, when this particular Pokemon was young, its shiny golden Magikarp scales made it special, to a young girl in particular. Every day, she would stop by the river where this Magikarp lived and give it a treat. One fateful morning, she brought with her a Rare Candy.

And thus began a Magikarp's quest for Rare Candies.

This Magikarp travelled far and wide, slowly accruing a horde of the delicacies. Each time he encountered one, he brought it back home, stashing it in a place he knew it'd be safe. Over time, he accidentally ate quite a few, and, although he hadn't gained any experience from battle, he managed to evolve into a Gyarados.

His premature evolution left him with certain... developmental issues. First-off, this newly-minted Shiny Gyarados still thought like a level-one Magikarp... except in a Gyarados's powerful form. The Pokemon had also retained more of its Magikarp likeness than most of its elder kin.

Upon evolving, Derpados became attracted to anything even remotely shiny or glowy. From that point onward, his trove (hidden in his home behind Pokette's waterfall) also included shiny and glowy things. If one were heartless enough to take from Derpados, they would find a veritable treasure back there free for the taking (since Derpados is no good at fighting, even though he may put up a good show).

And thus Pokette found itself home to a rather... unique citizen.

-- Leslie: Tried to take his treasure. Does Not Approve.

-- Aqua: Not bad. He got those oran berries or somethin', and Derpados does like him some food.

-- Coin: Escaped treasure. Gotta rectify that someday...
