Well, long for me, but it was probably only about 10 or 15 min.

It's a good amount of time to sit still.

It is. Especially when you have to lean uncomfortable against a railing to get a decent angle.

Thanks! That actually kinda cheers me up a bit, I've been a little bummed because I havn't taken anything decent in the past few days.
I'm really glad that you like it!

the more often you do this (stand around close to the feeder) the more accustomed they get to you and soon every time you go out you will have them near

I'd love to do this, but unfortunately I was just visiting for the day. I'll work on setting up an opportunity like that, though.

if you live somewhere that hummers co-habitate then you can hang a feeder almost anywhere and they'll find it...many people mistakenly assume that they have to have a garden in order to attract the little jewels I live in the foothills of California, and do have a garden, but outside of my few flowering bushes once the spring wildflowers are gone there is nothing but grasses and oak trees...with two feeders I have a resident "population" of over a dozen! If you're interested check out my hummer gallery: [link]

I'll try putting up a feeder once I move!

up in Canada you'll only have them during the summer, I'm assuming...

Yep, late spring, summer, early fall.
Dunno how many are going to find the feeder, my understanding is that it's got to be around for a while before they really start coming to it.

well, the house we're in now was empty for a couple years when we moved in...I hung the feeder within a few weeks (maybe mid May) and we had a couple almost right away. Now three years later we have a 'resident' group of at least a dozen...I've been told that the migrating ones remember where the "good" feeders are and will stop by year after year...
Good luck!
