I wanted this series to end with a bang.

Kama hewa, kama macho kama nyota, kama maji
Kama mimi leo, mimi napona

With beautiful Zecora as my main figure, I researched, designed and put together multiple textures, styles, and patterns into this final piece. I was very heavily inspired by a diverse and breathtaking culture of Africa, particularly Ghanian kente cloth and Nigerian wood carvings. Each panel behind Zecora represents a different texture, and her whites, blacks and greys contrast strongly with the colours of the cloth in front of her, and the background panels.

I was quite surprised to learn that both black and white hold meaning in kente-making, those of maturity and purification, which fit Zecora amazingly well. Warm colours behind her are the ones most strongly associated with Africa in modern culture (reds, oranges, and yellows), while the designs and textures are inspired by genuine pieces of African cloth I found during my research (although I have no clue to what extent I can trust uncle Google on that...).
