Reach back through time and steal the soul of one honorable, but not entirely pure, knight of the realm. Enchant armor to contain and torture said soul. Stuff soul into armor with promise/warning that it shall only be released onto it's final reward once it has fully served it's new master. Lockdown the dark bargain by pressing ones hand upon the chest and imbuing with power...

Thus Malfearance creates his bodyguard / henchman / enforcer.

Powers are super strength, invulnerability, sword that chops shit up good and a single-mindedness of fulfilling their objective.
