Description
Back in the ancient days of old when the internet wasn't so widespread for household use (in essence 20 years ago) my favorite place to go for kaiju fandom was Barry's Temple of Godzilla, a fan site that had funny reviews, fan fiction and picture galleries including a toybox gallery where Barry showed off his kaiju collection. I don't know why but I really just enjoyed seeing what other fans had and hearing them talk about how they got their stuff. I wanted to make a gallery of my own here, to document them but also just in case there's any crazy fans out there that just like looking at the collections of others like I doYou can still check out the archived Barry's Temple here: www.godzillatemple.com/index2.…
The first entry can only be the first Godzilla toy I ever played with back in the 80s which was owned by my Grandma Kitty, the Shogun Godzilla figure. In her dying years my grandma let me have the toy since she knew I loved it so much, and as you can see I abused that sucker. I have my grandma to thank for a LOT of the best things in my life that I love and enjoy, one of them being the giant monster movie genre, but I love this toy. I am quite blessed to have gotten it and it reminds me of her.

I had this, Rodan, Getter Dragon, Great Mazing and Reideen! I WISH TO GOD I still did. >.< Awesome figure even though it barely looks like him. And the shooting fist... O.o

Ah man you'd be rolling in some fast cash too if you still had that set. That shooting fist is a pain, btw, the spring is dying on mine so it shoots at the slightly hair trigger.

Mine was lime that out of the box. I have toyed with the idea of getting Toynami's '64 Godzilla Shogun Warriors figure but my experiences with their products leave me VERY doubtful of the quality. I also wish I could afford the Japanese Jumbo Machineder Godzilla, as it's a much more accurate version than this... but I never see it for less than $600. Usually much more.

Wow, man. You are lucky. I always wanted one of those. And to have had a GRANDPARENT introduce you to kaiju? That rocks. Mine would have been, at best, completely disinterested. At worst, seeing them as demonic.

Ah, yeah that bites. My grams just thought we boys would like all the old monster movies and figured they were harmless enough. I know what you mean though, people on my maternal side of the family probably would have said the kaiju stuff was mindless trash and geared me toward Patton Not that I hate Patton but that was more their speed.

Yay! I'm not the only one XD It is kind of amazing, isn't it? The format on his website is so ancient now that we chuckle at it but back in the day that was the WORLD opening up to us! Ah, simpler times....
