Chapter 3
It was mid-morning, and Henkuiron was fishing, with a line attached to his tail in order to wake him up when a fish would bite. He suddenly felt something jerk on the line harder than any fish before, waking him up instantly. He pulled the line in with his hands and saw bubbles near the surface. The mystery creature revealed itself as he pulled it onshore. It was a dark-blue salamander-like kaiju, who had the hook pointing upward through her lip. “Please! Get this thing out of my lip!” He then said “OK, I’m working on it.” He thought quickly and got an idea. He shot one of his spikes into a boulder. She then exclaimed fearfully “Stay away from me with that!” Henkuiron then said “Don’t worry, I’ll be careful. Trust me.” She then closed her eyes and prepared for the worst. She felt a slight movement on the hook, then a nearly painless removal of it. Henkuiron had used his spike to cut the point of it off and gently slid it out. She then said “Thank you.” He replied “You’re welcome.” She then said “Why would you do something like that?” He answered awkwardly “Hehe, that really wasn’t meant for you. Because I can’t swim far down like you, I have to lure them up to catch them.” She then said “Hmm, clever” before disappearing into the water. Henkuiron then turned around to walk back to camp when he heard a splash. It was her again, and she had brought a large pile of fish. He smiled and said “Thank you so much!” as he happily hugged her, but then released her, the two smiling and blushing. Henkuiron then said “Hey, what’s your name?” She then said “it’s Makeela.” She then asked “What’s yours?” He responded “Henkuiron”. He then said “Well, Makeela, I’d like you to come dine with me and my friends. Would you like to?” She smiled and said “Lead the way, Henkuiron” as the two brought the fish back to camp.
