Description
For a fan project (apparently). The key words were "savage" and "Gyakushu Goji." I thought I heard "retro" in there as well, so I ran with that
For those unawares, GIGANTIS THE FIRE MONSTER was the original US title for GOJIRA NO GYAKUSHU, otherwise known as GODZILLA RAIDS AGAIN.
Why call it "Gigantis"? Well, Godzilla wasn't a franchise type character at the time, so the US distributors decided it would be safer to repackage the film as a "new" monster...or something.

Β Always wonder where gigantis came from... We know the first creature was awakened by repeated atomic bomb tests so did there just happen to be two godzillas sleeping in that general area? If so were they brothers? Were they related in any way? Becuz the first godzillas skin was charred by the bomb and so was gigantis... So perhaps they were both in the same area....

This is actually Godzilla. I don't know why they came up with the name Gigantis, but it's better if we stick with Gozilla instead of Gigantis. But if there were a Gigantis, would Godzilla ight with it?

Concerning the commentaries for the first two movies, the gentlemen speaking always have to bring up how Godzilla might have been inspired by Asian dragons. But they quickly correct themselves and admit he was solely based on dinosaurs.
This illustration shows us how kickass Goji would look had he been more influenced by drakes. Love the eyes by the way. Intelligent but still feral.

Argh, it was so annoying seeing Godzilla open his mouth and hearing Aguiras' roar! And they killed Anguiras off too early, if you ask me.... Still, it wasn't bad, and it WAS the first monster battle movie ever.

i heard it was a copyright battle over the godzilla name . 2 US companies , 1 releaced godzilla king of the monsters and the other releaced gigantis the fire monster . named gigantis because they couldn't use the name godzilla .

You should see the climax of GODZILLA FINAL WARS, where Ozaki shoots Godzilla with the Spinach Ray, which makes him so super-strong, he makes short work of Kaiser-Ghidorah and hurls him into space!

Oh man, I remember reading about that in a really old (okay, maybe 15 or so years) Godzilla book. Didn't they try to pass off "Gigantis" as a female monster?

I heard that the reason why Godzilla was called Gigantis in this movie was because the distributors didn't even realize it was the sequel to the first Godzilla movie and therefore did not realize it was (a) Godzilla in the movie. A lot of times on the net fans call the Godzilla that appeared in Godzilla Raids Again and onwards (or as you liked to call him, Godzilla 2) as Gigantis.

Even I was surprise so see America naming that, but since it didn't work out they decided to change it to Godzilla Raids Again
Its not Gigantis its Godzilla damn it, I even want to know why they named one of the movie Godzilla's Revenge, who'd he get revenge on, that's what I wanna know?
