Description (Okay, I goofed: there were 20 left in Series 2, so after this one, there's now 19.
Oh, and I'm aware that the original concept for Deutalios is something quite different, but I wanted to give the giant rats a more recognizable name.
Big thanks to for his help with this!)

Giant Rat Creatures
DEUTALIOS

LENGTH (average): 10 meters
MASS (average): 20 tons

BIO:

When FRANKENSTEIN escaped, Doctors Bowen and Togami chastised Dr. Kawaji for having an instrumental hand (no pun intended) in the man-monster's breakout.
While the two other scientists searched the countryside for what had become their foster-child, Kawaji became reclusive, furious at himself for losing a marvelous wonder of science...but he still had the hand, though.
The hand of Frankenstein, still growing, still moving, severed during the monster's violent escape. After being "fed" nutrients, the hand was actually quite sprightly, just short of being able to move at a brisk pace. Kawaji was obsessive over the hand, and tried something drastic, but nonetheless foolish. He severed one of the fingers and fed it to a group of lab rats...and what do you know? THEY GREW IN TO MONSTERS. Big surprise.
Kawaji escaped by the skin of his teeth and headed for the mountains, desperate to seek out Sueko and James, but unaware that the rats were in hot pursuit.

When the rats nearly destroyed Kawaji's jeep, Frankenstein appeared and saved him. Bringing him to Bowen and Togami, the two carried Kawaji to safety while Frankenstein squared off against the monsters. At least 5 in number, Frankenstein was outmatched, but nonetheless held a brave battle against the beasts, protecting his family.

The JSDF arrived and started blasting the creatures to kingdom come. Frankenstein himself, badly wounded, drug himself out to the water, and sank beneath the waves...

Later, the giant rats were named DEUTALIOS in the G-Force registry.

ABILITIES/ASPECTS:
- Strong healing factor but not as strong as Frankenstein's
- Fast and violent
- Subsist on human flesh
- Saliva may spread disease
- Each one mutated in slightly different ways

Why make him a Frankenstein related character? he's supposed to be Biolante-related!

That's the cool thing about Godzilla Neo, we can change things just like that without having to worry about past things

Hehe, kidding. KaijuSamurai already explained why he named the rats Deutalios in his Artist Comment. It sounds better then just GIANT RATS.

I'm sorry, but I need to 100% disagree.

Seriously, I mean, what was wrong with the fish/rat hybrid concept?

Look dude, making this guy Frankie related?, is just like making Mothra Gamera-related.

Pardon, me but I'm a devoted purist.

If you really want to redesign something, all you need to do is simply take the thing and slightly tweak the material that already exists.

Here's what I have to say of your Deutalios: EEEEEEEEEEEKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! AAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHAAAAAAAAAAGGGGGGGGGGGGGGHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!! HE'S SUPER SCARY! AAAAHHHHHHHHHGGGGGGAHHHH!!!!

But, I prefer Toho Kingdom's Deutalios because that one was more cute and cuddly (then again, I'm a girl who's speaking). Your Deutalios does remind me of the Mutant Sewer Rats that appeared in Godzilla: the Series. I would hate to face one of your Deutalios up close.

As awesome as these guys are, and as creative and well-thought-out the origin is, I'm sorry man, it just ain't Deutalios to me if it doesn't have fish DNA. Apart from that nerdish nitpicking, yet another great work, Samurai.

One nice design. I'm not getting into the story though. I think it is cause I am so used of Baragon being in there.

Uh...just think of Deutalios and Frankenstein being in a different time line (or alternate universe) than the one of Frankenstein and Baragon.

ProudZillaFan In reply to SlipknotGhidorah [2009-05-08 15:26:58 +0000 UTC]

I admit, it does take some time getting used to. But, as KaijuSamurai already said, Baragon Neo just wouldn't have fitted into this version of the Frankenstein story. His appearance in this would be kinda ... "random".

The giant rats aka Deutalios, on the other hand, were a direct product of the Frankenstein monster. They are a part of the story. Their appearance also makes sense, at least much more then Baragon suddenly appearing because he sees Frankenstein as an abomination of the Earth, as it was stated in the first draft of the story. Because that is, if you think about it (and that's something I just realised, too), inconsistent: Why does he appear only now? Why didn't he awake when Godzilla was running around, for example, who is probably just as much an abomination as Frankenstein is? The giant rats give us some nice antagonists for this story, since they are just one nasty bunch The original Baragon did fit into this role because he was just an random monster, but Baragon Neo is a Yamato Guardian, a Spawn of Orochi, and with that has far surpassed the role.

And, thanks to them, we also have the added human drama between Bowen, Togami and Kawaij, which is something that was hinted at in the movie, but never really explored fully.

I hope that helps you two enjoy the story a bit more. I apologize in advance if something doesn't sound sensical to you in this text. Sometimes it's a bit hard for me to put all the stuff I have in my head in written form

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

SlipknotGhidorah In reply to ProudZillaFan [2009-05-08 23:11:53 +0000 UTC]

Yeah, that does make more sense.

👍: 0 ⏩: 0

KaijuSamurai In reply to SlipknotGhidorah [2009-05-08 04:17:20 +0000 UTC]

The thing is, and I couldn't reconcile having Baragon, a Yamato Guardian and Spawn of Orochi, appearing and fighting Frankenstein. It made Frankenstein a lot less heroic and Baragon a lot more of a jerk.

...

*watches Frankenstein Conquers the World*

This is a damn good movie though.

KaijuX In reply to ZigraDude [2009-05-09 02:51:27 +0000 UTC]

Not really. There are some unused kaiju that will be used, but then they are probably going to be based off of something (ex: Deutalios is based off of the Giant Rats (Godzilla: The Series, or Laditude Zero), and Gigamoth (based off of Primitive Mothra Larva and Armor Mothra).

"Each one mutated in slightly different ways". I would love to see different variation on Deutalios. Were did that name come from? And do these creature move on four or do they walk on two. And poor kaijus, now they have to deal with rat on a daily basis.

KaijuSamurai In reply to firadart [2009-05-07 17:23:37 +0000 UTC]

Four legs, and Deutalios was a scrapped concept from Godzilla vs. Biollante; a giant fish-rat that gets nom'd by Goji.

I would have liked to draw several different versions, but I simply don't have time.

Very interesting, quite hideous and grotesque looking. Not quite the Fish-rat that the original is supposed to be, but I understand you are going for something different here this time. They look like they could be quite the hand full for a humanoid monster like Frankenstein.
