There's a sweetness and lovely whimsical quality your work exudes. It dances with a light foot.

I was so nervous on my first date. I ended up embarrassing myself. I ate a burger and was terribly messy..

Firsts are generally quite exciting - the newness of things. Plunging into something you haven't experienced or known so intimately. It's extraordinarily scaring and well exciting!

kaiorton In reply to luckyred [2006-05-21 17:34:55 +0000 UTC]

Very well said. I tried to capture this nervousness that leads to messy, yet endearing behavious, in the nondescript shapes. First dates are scary and exciting. I am going on one tonight. =l

kaiorton In reply to luckyred [2006-05-29 18:07:14 +0000 UTC]

The date was fabulous, resulting in a relationship that met its fate in an end. First date...last date. There are always the two somehow.

Yup. Makes me think of the film, Closer. It's only the beginning and ending that seem to stick.

mhm...first dates, I remember the first one i went out on...i was looking into my date's eyes, an' if a bomb dropped next to us, or if the fire alarm was set off, i wouldn't have moved my attention away...was too good to be true and then...it didn't work out ...
I like this piece anyhow, each person has a different approach to it...

kaiorton In reply to conundrum66 [2006-03-04 03:00:00 +0000 UTC]

Yes, first dates are magical...I agree...I still get butterflies sometimes...and then I know I am still alive. Although somedays, after a long work day, I doubt that I have a pulse. Painting this came at a quirky moment...I wanted to think about something simple and happy...and this came to mind.

Thanks for your thoughtful comment. I hope that anyone could look at my works and have an individual experience, and I always like hearing about it.

i love the texture, and the orang/pink color, up on the right side that its repeating again on the left side.
and the line you have add, [latitude] make it to looks like there is water there, and you can see the reflection, under this line!

kaiorton In reply to WattsHanna [2006-11-25 18:34:14 +0000 UTC]

Hanna your comment echos the very abstract inspirations that echoed in my head the day I made this painting...all of the details in fact are correct. Thank you for your thoughtful comments.

WattsHanna In reply to kaiorton [2006-11-25 20:22:25 +0000 UTC]

you mean, this was your attention from the first place, not accidently, to make this line, that will have the feeling of reflection?
sorry, my english is not so good!
i love reflection, transparent...you can play with it alot.

kaiorton In reply to WattsHanna [2006-11-26 22:35:43 +0000 UTC]

indeed...I was thinking back on the first date I had with someone I dated for a while and what it all meant and came to in the end. The date was lovely. We walked along the lake front at the waters edge and talked about everything. And he was so charming...alas the relationship, reflected under the horizon was not as sparkley and did not last forever.

It is wonderful for me that you were able to sense all of these emotions and reflections. Thank you again.

I really like this painting as well. I think it is rather cute in a weird way. I am so pleased you like it and see so much in it.

That's simply just fav! I cannot decide how much of it is abstract, because i've found a lot of symbols(maybe only for me) in them (colours, composition)
I still like the shining parts! Wonderful!

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

kaiorton In reply to sapphyrewind [2006-03-02 04:49:06 +0000 UTC]

Yes the whole concept of what is abstract falls ignorant on me as well. I keep reading different definitions...and what I can determine is that abstract is almost anything really. Some of the most famous abstract works I also recognize symbols and emotional cues in colour and texture. I poled a number of people on this, including my masters in art achieved roomie, and she says it is abstract...so I did not argue.

I am pleased you like it. I am also interested in if you think it should belong in another category. =]D

sapphyrewind In reply to kaiorton [2006-03-07 17:59:14 +0000 UTC]

Well...of course it's not a problem that you put it in the abstract category,i just thought that it would fit much better in the conceptual category.I think that the title has a close conncetion with the symbols on the painting. So,from the first moment i thought that it would fit in the conceptual category. That's just my intuition,i didn't want to tease you it's right in the abstract as well...
