I'm glad the water line is recognizable! I used Photoshop CS4 on my Mac with a Genius i608x tablet. (The older Genius MousePen 8x6 is the best, but that broke on me. ) Most of this was drawn with the plain circle (non-feathered) brush. Shading done at 30% opacity and 30% air-brush mostly. Couple times I duplicated the layer and set the top one to overlay to create more contrast. To keep the layer count lower I merged the 2 said layers back together.
