Description
As some of you might know, me and The Jono (Aka PanzerGeist/PonyGeist), have been working on a little project lately.And here it is.
This animation can be downloaded and used as a bootup animation for Android phones.

I have never actually used it myself, seeing as I don't have an Android.
There is a readme file included in the download, though, so try reading that if you haven't already.

Aw man, this is amazing! If it weren't for my stupid widescreen display messing up the proportions of the Windows boot screen, I'd try modding this into one.

I may not have an Android device, but it will be good if I could have something like that. Or better, as a startup sequence for Windows PC too.

I remember when I used a jailbreak method called GreenPois0n on my iPhone. It had a custom skull boot animation logo. Then a jailbreak app allowed iPhone users who used GreenPois0n to choose or add a different boot animation. It was a specific file type for the animation, but unfortunately I restored and re-jailbreaked with a new tool so I don't have the boot functionality anymore. Would be cool if I had a GreenPois0n jailbreaked phone, I could have worked on importing this for iPhone users.

Well, I'm not against the idea of making this available for iPhones, but somepony would need to do it, 'cause I have no idea whatsoever how to do that. But if you do figure out a way to make it usable on iPhones, let me know! 'Cause that'd be awesome.

Yeah that would be awesome. I took some researching and it seems its also available to those who jail broke with a tool called RedSn0w. Unfortunately my iPhone is too high of a version for that tool to work, and I don't want to risk downgrading since I nearly bricked my phone the last time I did that. The jailbreak tool I used was Jailbreakme.com and its basically a user level hack. GreenP0sion and RedSn0w (just noticed its common to replace O with a zero), anywaysβ¦green poison and red snow are hacks that embeds itself in the lower levels of the phone. I can simply SSH into my phone but without that lower level access I can't just swap the default animation fileβ¦.though I haven't tried. (goes and tries)

Totally doable. Look up Animate in Cydia. And if it doesn't work for you try the Animate patch.

I don't have the iPhone anymore though...ditched it for an Android just a few days ago and loving every minute of it.

Ah, former iOS user huh? That's fine. I have both the iOS and the Android in this house. Though I'll prefer my iOS. The screen on my iPHone 4 has spoiled me

Well with the Android about 90% of the apps on the marketplace are free anyways. Plus if you have a rooted kernel that allows you to instal app files from unknown sources you can just redownload your purchased apps elsewhere.
That's another thing...since Android is Linux based you can hack and do whatever you want with it without any legal issues.
Not gonna start a fanboy war here. I'm just speaking as someone who just traded for an Android a few days ago and is liking every minute of it.

Tried, there was nothing there to change. I did find one person on DA who took another person's MLP android boot up animation for iOS devices. However, like I said its for people who had RedSn0W. Oh well, I ponified my iPhone already, I can live without this.

Took a bit of modification (my Moto Flipout is 320x240 instead of 240x320, so it derped xD) but I finally got it running at my resolution! Thanks so much!

Hehe. I've actually been thinking of making more of these, but haven't really had the time lately. Since I'm new to making animations, even a simple one as this one takes some time for me to make.

I've been trying to get hold of PonyGeist, but haven't heard anything lately. :/

I installed the 320x480 version on my HTC Hero (very old Android, I know), and... Twilight is cutting off on the sides.
I looked into the desc.txt files inside the zip, and it looks like they're all using the 480x800 desc.txt. So, I went inside the 320x480 bootanimation.zip and edited the first line of desc.txt to change "480 800" to "320 480" and updated the file in the zip. Then I reloaded it to my phone, rebooted, and it was working correctly.
So, you might want to tell PonyGeist that he needs to fix his desc files so that the first line matches the actual resolution, and re-upload.
That said, once I fixed that, it worked like a dream and looked beautiful.
