well the first tip is know what you want to do. Don't go into it without any plans, use a reference if you have too, but do give credit. I learn by looking at pics, and watching/reading tutorials, if you go to the search bar just type in tutorials and what your looking for if nothing comes up just try another word for it. I also look up on youtube to see what it looks like because just reading sometimes doesn't give you all the details.
there are also some effects in side the photoshop I use that allows me to change color, add the sun light and get the clouds as I need them. If you don't have any program you can get them free by going to youtube and looking up free .... and type in the program after free. Another is don't over do it. You want to add just a few things. If it looks like it not enough add one more at a time. Another is a point. Make points on your sketch so you know where everything goes, I'll make a pic to show where most of the points go for different things. Also do everything on different layars. Do one color of things on one and if your doing another shape but same color do it on another layer. that way if you mess up you can redo it. As for tips go that all I got unless you give me more detail on what kind of tips your looking for.

i cant seem to get rid of the 2-d feel of the background........

go to render then light flare, that gives you the sunlight. I also do livestreams to help others when they need it still suck at cities thou. also just adding shadows can give it more 3-D and toning. You can also use brushes to help but credit the brushes.

It needs to be sort of nice (as new kind of nice not oooh pretty nice) but dark and foreboding. Make it look like the place it is in is somewhere one does not want to be I guess is the best way to say it. Anyway, thank you in advanced.
