As part of my own take of "What If" Vader and Anakin were two different people rather than the same person. The duel between the two would be super awesome and one for the ages to see. This scene of the two battling it out is how I'd see it as it leads to the climax when the two learn and discover of who they are when finding out the truth of each other and the connection that brought the two together, thus coming to a shocking and heart felt revelation.
