Description Blender USS Federation by Ricky Wallace, this lightwave conversion by David A. Ledwith (me).

For private use only. As with all star trek materials commercial use is PROHIBITED.

Hope you have as much fun with this mesh as I had in converting it to lightwave. There were quite a few issues that had to be overcome before I was comfortable with the package enough to release it publically.
Its only polite that you credit the original creator of the mesh Ricky Wallace, wether or not you choose to credit me with the conversion I leave to you.
Just don't be claiming it as your own work - that would be the height of insult.

Looks good, though I'd personally have one pair of torpedo launchers in the saucer section, to avoid putting all my eggs in one basket (or neck). They'd also be useful if the saucer were to seperate for a multi-vector assault.

Cool model. Where can I get the original Ricky Wallace files? I don't have Lightwave.

You can't. He hasn't released them and I no longer have them. Blender will accept lightwave import.

Thanks

Is lightwave easy to learn?

karanua In reply to Second-Perfection [2010-12-17 07:31:51 +0000 UTC]

depends on your learning ability more than anything, if you can learn the interface thats half the battle with lightwave, most blender users take very well to lightwave.

It's one of the commercial packages i'm seriously considering. When I found out they used it for Babylon 5 I've wanted to play with Lightwave ever since.

I've been using it since the version that was used to make the babylon early series (LW2) you'll find the latest commercial release a far cry from the rudimentary program it was then. I've not got the upgrade package to 10 and have no plans at the present to do so, my lifespan is currently on a months estimate basis rather than a years one so it woould be a little selfish of my to spend the 2 grand to update rather than leave it for the wife and children. Lw 9.6 (64 bit) serves me well enough, ever since upgrading from 9.2 I've been impressed with all the refinements both on the modelling side and in layout.

The work that you're doing with this latest batch of models is something that I can only describe with the word "superior." I think it really is that good.

Totally freaking cool, as always

And I'm not sure on this, but the top window on the saucer section, the yellow backlit one below the first line of the N... I think I see Harebell waving

Actually I'll bet if you get a microscope you'll find that the entire crew are made up of small green totally naked alike ladies and that theres a big blue box parked amongst the trees in the arboretum

Hahahahahahahahaha

Very possible, apart from the naked bit (hard to show clothes with emotes, apart from hats)

I post the odd mesh on here that Ricky for some reason or another prefers not to host on his site, I just add it to my gallery under resources and stock.
