I realized today that drawing isn’t fun for me anymore.It’s become a chore. It isn’t something that I do because I want to or because I like to, but because I have to.
When I was younger, even just early last year, it was still fun. I had countless sketches, piles upon piles of illustrations. My pile for this year is… small.
This piece is something I drew back in April. I drew it to prove to myself that I was a decent artist after all, since I wasn’t feeling very confident in my art.
I haven’t had time to finish it because I’ve been busy with the work that is expected of me. And now I don’t even like it anymore. I probably will not finish it, but if I do, it’ll be when I’m done all the art I owe.

Man, that's really to bad. You have a great gift, but if it brings you no joy.. Maybe all you need is a bit of a break. If you loved it so much at one point, who knows, it's bound to come back.

Part of the reason I'm not joining any more groups is the responsibility problem. When you're modding a group, there's a lot of responsibility involved and often times you will feel like you're being forced to work when you're really not in the mood. Maybe it's something you should consider as well.

That's very true... "being forced to work when you're not in the mood" is definitely how I feel about all of this.
And yet, the actual roleplaying part is fun still, so I keep joining... but maybe I should consider that, yeah...

Funny you mention Gaia, because I used to rp there all the time. Maybe I'll revisit that idea and try it out again... though I still really like the dA scene... I just don't know...

I feel sad to hear that you don't find drawing fun anymore. :c Drawing should not feel like a chore, it should be an escape for the demands of every day life.
If you still care for art, then you probably just need a break. Or try something different, like a new style or different medium.

Yeah... there's rather a big disconnect for me in what drawing should be and what it's become.

And people wondered why I didn't decide to go into animation or illustration. Take a break from it when you can, and doodle on the edges of newspapers and the like instead of being srs. That's what helped me.

I think I'll probably just take a break, and if I start itching to draw after a while, then I'll get back to it.
