I never saw any SP steam, really the only steam outside of parks and such was in New Zealand on their 125th anniversary of the transportation museum where they ran a steam loco and pax cars around some... was lucky enough to be down there then. This sweetheart is the icon of what I love about travel and power and parallel steel. Grew up in southern California, and SP was the onliest brand we saw on the tracks. Would love to see this one in person, hear all the grunts, chuffs, clinks, pops, chugs, etc... Add a modicum of enjoyment to your own experience on my behalf the next time you see it.

Thanks for the comment! Unfortunately, I don't think that there will ever be steam on the West Coast again, according to someone that works for BNSF.

Helluva shot. It's not often you get to see doubleheading of oldschool big steam power.

Thanks man! I think this is the last time that we'll see steam power of this scale on the west coast, so I really got a lot of shots, and saw these guys as much as I could.

I spent alot of time up in Everett in the early 90's ... never knew they still ran trains of this calibre up that way.. Only thing close to riding on a older locomotive is the one's running up near Mt. Raineer, but this thing is awesome.
