Description Save the background (which isn't overly complicated anyway), this is the drawing. I might tweak stuff here and there, but for the most part, the characters are established. Next time you see this, it'll be done.

This is just completely bitching. The last time I've still any still artwork that felt like it was moving was maybe some of Art Adams old stuff.

Just one question- what kind of pencil do you use mechanical? .3 lead? Inquiring minds need to know!!

Anyway... FRIGGIN AWESOME. I am totally inspired. Thank you.

ahhh... good ol, white out.

Anyway, on the idea of motion, I think the main problem is probably the male figure, simply because while it does feel like he is running, it doesn't look like it is taking him much effort to do so. His torso is pretty much upright which indicates there is little air resistance as he runs and further, he may be galloping for all we know. Still there is a sense of movement there and considering the more cartoon/ charicature/ whathaveyou expression he has, he can get away with it.

Still, this piece amazes me. Excellent stuff.

Thanks. I still feel like I could have pushed this a great deal more, in terms of movement. But for what it's worth, I'm happy.

I actually use a ballpoint pen, uh, pen. Ball point pen, and copious amounts of corrective fluid. I'm told that you can get a pretty similar finished product with mechanical pencil though.

Thanks man. After this, i'd really like to try drawing stuff with a different subject matter. We'll see, I guess.

Heeeee I love this! Their expressions- especially the girl's look of determination- are awesome! Can't wait to see the finished product

Thanks Linsay (I'm sorry, I'm sure I botched spelling your name. I will go to hell for it, no doubt). It's funny, you're the only person who likes of my drawings the same things that I like. See, everyone else is always like, "gosh, that's a great rock" or "gosh, that finger nail is SICK yo'". Oh well, comes with the territory, so to speak.

omg, such clean strokes, Be my teacher!!!
I think the mean-looking girl is way more detailed than the guy (you?)
But still, looking great man!

Dont you dare stopping using DA!! yes, im threading you!
If you do... im gonna... well, nothing!

Kebikun In reply to DigitalShark [2005-06-14 03:24:19 +0000 UTC]

Heh, yea. Actually, the two almost look like they're drawn in completely different styles. Still, I spent too much time on this to really care. I just rationalize that the girl is more detailed cause' she's closer to the viewer.

As for being your teacher, the only things you'd possibly learn from me are laziness and procrastination.

DA gives me an incentive to finish stuff (that, and the fact that i'm getting older and will eventually need to get my work out there) so I'll probably be sticking around.

If I leave, what're you gonna do about it, huh...HUH!?!! ::stands tall, which isn't tall...AT ALL (hah)::

One question, are they running in the same direction together? or is the girl chasing the guy? Right now it looks like their both running from something but i could be wrong, just needing clarification.

Overall, the characters are coming out nicely, per usual.

Yea, they're running away from an explosion thing (which I've yet to draw).

How's the job going incidently? Have you found a place yet?

I'd like to say that I have, but unfortunately I'm still deciding on what KIND of place to live in... I highly doubt I'll be able to get a condo, so I'm going to have to settle for a one to two bedroom apartment... wanna share?... That'll help the expenses I'm sure, lol.

But at any rate, I'm stressing about this whole agency thing and what's happening next for my cartoon... man...

Man, were it not for the commute, I'd move in with you in a heart beat. Maybe soon when I get enough portfolio worthy stuff done, I'll be able to get some commision work and, hopefully, some decent money.

I still want to get a studio. I was surprised to find that they go for about 550 in Long Beach (decent area, bathroom, shower, kitchen, etc.), which isn't much more than what I pay now. Anyway, good luck with your cartoon. What're you doing this coming Sunday?
