Description
Oil on canvas 14"x18" The title is based on the poem by Percy Bysshe Shelley en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ozymandi… and not on the comic book character. I posted an unfinished version of this on my old DA page but never completed the piece until a friend saw it and mentioned "money".I did some further work on the painting and updated the main file Dec 10, 2018
Original painting available. For information: www.facebook.com/theFinnsgalle…

Legend has it that L Frank Baum named the Wizard of Oz after this poem.

A stunning painting! (I love the title and the poem it's named for.) The juxtaposition of space and the ancient sculpture really lends to a unique viewing experience. Awesome work!

You are welcome
I see now; Do you know Göbekli tepe ?
World's known most ancient civilazation founded there only recently; the artifacts\buildings are even older than pyramids & stonhedge !

I have seen shows on TV and have read a few articles about it. It is stunning! I understand that the builders deliberately buried it, but no one knows why.

İndeed !
İts slightly creepy to think Why the former natives buried their works; what if they need to hide them from some'thing' ?

I am guessing they were hiding their sacred site from an enemy....I guess they were not so different from us.

Whoever they were, they have vanished without a trace. Meanwhile, Gobekli tepe remains, so perhaps its builders won in the end

İndeed !
Well they buried it very good so even İF they loose; it isn't suprising invaders couldn't find the remains.
Still both interesting and both creepy at same time

Thank you!(Spasibo!) When I was a child my father's work took us overseas to Jordan, Greece and Turkey...I grew to love old ruins and antiquities. I also love the poem "Ozymandius" so it was easy to put the two together. And I would love it if old ruins were discovered on one of the moons of Jupiter
Thank you for the faves!
