Low gravity, high oxygen content with abundant water and biomass, much like Earth' Mesozoic, with a tendency towards large size plant and animal growth.
These folks would be quite ancient, and set in their ways, much like China was for centuries and centuries. They would be happy leading a low tech life, again, much like the Asians, perhaps the Tibetans.
Theirs would be a culture emphasizing tradition, philosophy, geometry, astronomy, art, states-craft, various theologies.
The first few human encounters were friendly. But some fool on the expedition did something to offend them, and we had to pack up and leave. Oh well. Stealth-bots can fill in on studying these folks, but it sure isn't as fun and rewarding as actually being there.
