Ahem... So yeah, I decided to start working on a new version of Jamil's ref and bio... Not that there's really anything wrong with this one (apart from some anatomical and other mistakes in the picture), but since I did get a new (and in my opinion, a better) idea for it, I decided to make it. However, I still like some of the pictures on this one (especially the one with him and Chihimi <3 ) so I won't delete this one either. But just so that you know, a new and possibly better version of his ref & bio is coming soon! I will put a link here once its done and posted

Yay, finally I'm able to start posting bios about my original story's characters! And what would be a better character to start with than the protagonist~ So here we are, with Jamil's bio. I'm not sure if I should say this about my own character, but I am really liking how he is turning up... Anyway, before we do get to the bio, I'd like to point out that this bio contains only the most basic info about him. As in what he is like when the story starts. Something about him will likely change as the story goes on due to character growth.

As for the referance picture, I do realize that it does have some anatomical mistakes and the colouring isn't that good either, to be honest. I will likely do a new picture for him, once I get better hang of the anatomy and digital colouring, but until then this picture will do. I wanted to add Chihimi (the girl) there too, since she is a very important person to Jamil, being his adopted daughter an all. Also the bio is written on a template made by I have made it a bit shorter though. I will likely update the bio as well later, as things get more clear and so on.

Full Name: Jamil Touzani

Nickname: "J". This is what his best friend used to call him when they were younger (and he still hasn't dropped this habit). Sometimes Jamil signs the letters he writes to his friend as "J".

Zodiac: Capricorn

Sexual Orientation: Heterosexual

Nationality: Osirian by birth, but he has lived within the Gafron Empire ever since he was 6 years old. In a sense, he is kind of a mixture of both cultures: due living most of his younger years and attending to school in Gafron, he has adapted to the Empire’s culture and etiquette. However, since his family is originally Osirian, he was raised as one by his parents. Osirian culture and etiquette is still a very important aspect of his life.

Hometown: He was born in Judecca, which is the capital of Osiria. At age 6, he moved to Ebondrift in Gafron Empire with his parents.

Current Residence: At the beginning of the story, he does have an apartment in Shihai (the capital city of Coscar Isles and also the city where the University Jamil works in is located). However, he packs his things early in the story, when he decides to return to Gafron together with Chihimi.

Occupation: Researcher (his main fields being cultural history and technology)
For how long?: 3 years
Do they like his/her job?: For the most part, he loves his job. Although, despite his love for his work as a researcher, he is planning to try to get a proper teacher’s position in a school somewhere, after he is able to finish the research he is currently working on. The reason for this is simple: Now that he has Chihimi to take care of, he needs to be home with her as much as he can. As a teacher, he could do that since the job wouldn't require him to travel as much as his work as a researcher does.

Salary: Since he is not currently working as a professor and does research instead, his salary depends on what the University thinks its worth. He is getting 9500 litas/month (equal to 6000 dollars/month) from the University for the current research he is working on.

ll Abilities ll
Hand-to-Hand capability: Well, he can throw a punch if he has to, but his hand-to-hand fighting skills aren’t that good, since the only education he ever got of it was the little amount they were taught at the school he attended to as a child and even then he sucked at it. His body is too weak to handle hand-to-hand combat that well.
Weapons training: Similarly to his hand-to-hand capabilities, Jamil isn’t that good with weapons that would require a good physical condition, swords and the like for example. He does carry a pistol, but he only ever uses it for self-defense (or when defending someone else).

Physical strength: Not so good, I’m afraid. Unlike to most Osirian men, Jamil’s body is actually quite frail.

Speed: He sure is fast on his feet, but he lacks stamina and does get tired easily.

Planning: This is where he shines. What Jamil lacks as a fighter, he does make up for as a strategist.

ll Family ll

Jamil has a very close and loving relationship with his parents, although he does feel a bit guilty for making them worry so much. In Osirian culture, family is the most important thing to people and this does clearly show from the way Jamil and his parents act around one another.

Birth order: The first and only child
Adopted daughter: Chihimi Okaro
A 4-year-old girl of whom Jamil is taking care of. However, he is struggling with this, because he isn't used to dealing with children. The very reason why he is taking care of her in the first Place is that he was familiar with her family before her parents died, since he used to work together with Chihimi's father as his research partner. Since young Chihimi doesn't have any family members left who could take care of her now that her parents are gone, Jamil decided to step in and raise her himself, instead of handing her over to the temple, where many orphaned children tend to end up in.

Personality-wise Chihimi is a very curious young girl, she is exactly the type to ask a lot of questions. She is a very clever girl and quite mischevious too when she gets on the mood. Unfortunately, she doesn't know or understand any other language than her native, which is why Jamil has to translate things to her and also translate Chihimi's words to others when necessary. After her parents' death, she literally clings onto Jamil, who is now the only familiar person she has. She has shown to be untrusting of other people at first, unless Jamil tells her its okay, that the other person is not going to harm her.
Are all children with the same partner?: No, since Chihimi is not biologically Jamil's daughter. Then again, it is uncertain if Jamil will ever have any biological children... He is quite against it, since he doesn't want to risk the child inheriting his illness.
Is their relationship with their children important to character?: It is, especially since he knows what would have happened to Chihimi if he hadn't taken her in.

What is the character's family life like: Currently it is quite hectic actually, since his job keeps the two of them on the road constantly. However, Jamil is planning to settle down in a city within the Empire’s borders as soon as possible , since he feels that the constant traveling is not good for Chihimi and he wants her to have a proper home.

Have they ever had any pets?: Well, Chihimi would sure want one, but at the moment they don’t have any pets since they wouldn’t be able to take care of it, since Jamil’s work keeps them on the road. Jamil himself did have a pet bird (a red/orange parakeet) when he was little, which he named "Atsu" (which means "Red" in his native language), but it has already deceased.

ll Relationships ll
Are they a virgin?: He is.
Have they ever cheated on a partner?: No, since he's never had a partner. However, Jamil isn't really the type of person who would do that anyway.
Who was their first crush?: That would be a young woman named Natalia, whom Jamil met at the library many times during his studies in the University. However, he never said a word to her and only admired her from a distance.
Have they ever been married?: No, he hasn't ever been married.

Are they in any kind of romantic relationship?: No, currently he is not in any kind of romantic relationship and he is determined to keep it that way, even if it does make him feel very lonely. But since he knows that his illness is very slowly but surely killing him, he thinks it is better for everyone if he does not to let anyone get too close to him. The less people there are to mourn his demise, the better.

Creator's note: This is what he thinks of the matter in the beginning of the story. However, his opinion might change as the story progresses...
Who is your characters closest friend?: That would be Liutenant Theodore Wilkins (or just Theo for short).
Jamil and Theo first met way back when both of them were 10 years old and started their studies in the Hillshire Boys' Academy. For the 8 years that they studied in the Academy, they were roommates at the school's dorm. Personality-wise they are indeed quite different, but that doesn't seem to bother them much. As Theo would put it, they complement each other nicely since they're so different.

Describe relationship with any other significant friends:

Dr. Saigou Okaro : Chihimi’s biological father and Jamil’s former mentor who offered him a job as his assistant and research partner after Jamil graduated from University, because he saw a lot of promise in the young man. Feeling very honored by his mentor’s offer, Jamil accepted the job. Eventually the two became close friends, in fact Saigou and his wife Kiyo did consider Jamil as a part of their family. The death of Saigou and Kiyo was a huge shock to Jamil, but because he had Chihimi to take care of, he tried his best to control his feelings and stay strong, for her sake (Although, at first he is clearly panicking... It was much thanks to his friend Yaya that he was able to calm down and regain his composure)

Eliza Rowley: A young, self-proclaimed inventor that Jamil hired early in the story to be his assistant and help him with his research and in taking care of Chihimi. Jamil was truly impressed with Eliza’s inventions when he first saw some of them. Personality-wise Eliza is a friendly person, but also a bit secretive as well. Because of her more or less humble origins, Eliza's point of view regarding some things is somewhat unusual, for example she does not have an understanding of such things as "personal property" (and she is quite the pickpocket). Although she does have a very sharp tongue and she might say things she doesn't mean when she's provoked, deep down she does have a very caring heart and she truly does want to do something to help people. Her biggest dream is to one day open a shop of her own, where she could sell her inventions and offer repairs for different kinds of appliences her customers might have. Unfortunately, she does have one larger obstacle stopping her from fullfilling that dream: She does not have the funds or any idea how she'd get them.

Yaya Amami: Jamil's friend from the University. She is a few years younger than Jamil and is still in the middle of her studies to become a heart surgeon. Initially, it was her who approaced Jamil after she found out about his illness. First, Jamil tried to get rid of her, thinking that her prying of his condition and butting in his company wherever he went was very annoying, but Yaya was persistent and wouldn't give up trying to become friends with him until she'd succeed. Due to his illness, Jamil can offer her loads of research material by being her guinea pig. In return, she is helping him trying to find a cure to the illness, before it manages to kill him. Personality-wise, Yaya is a very bubbly and talkative personality, who loves to tease Jamil, because according to her, he is often way too serious. Jamil is not amused by this and he does often comment on Yaya being too nosy about his private life and he does get annoyed by her teasing.

ll Physical Characteristics ll

Height: 178 cm
Weight: 57 kg

(Due to his illness and his genes, Jamil has always been underweight. And it shows, from how skinny he is. Not only that, due to his genes he is the type of person who could pretty much eat whatever he wanted and still not gain much to any weight from it).
Body build: Jamil is a tall, yet very slim young man. He has long, slender legs and arms and a short back in comparison. His body build is quite different from a typical Osirian man; Typically, Osirian men are tall and if not muscular, then they are at least robust. Jamil is neither of these things.

Eye Color: Purple
Glasses or contact lenses?: He does wear glasses. He hates putting anything into his eyes, so contact lenses are out of the question for him.
Hair Color: Chocolate brown
Type of hair: Jamil has thick, wavy hair
Hairstyle: He keeps his hair fairly short, although it is long enough to cover his forehead and top of his ears.
Complexion: Olive

Health: As I’ve stated earlier already, Jamil’s health is unfortunately not so good. He has been diagnosed with a genetic heart and blood disease known as brittle heart disorder. Known symptoms of the disease are breathing difficulty, chest pain, seizures, increased thirst, exhaustion, irregular heartbeat, excess sweating and feeling light-headed. Without proper medication, the seizures often reach extremes at seemingly random times. Heat, lack of sleep, poor nutrition and heavy labor/exercise are known to make the symptoms worse.

Since it is a genetic disease, it is possible for a person to carry the genes of the disease, but not suffer from it themselves. This is exactly the case with Jamil’s family: His grandfather (mother’s father) died due to brittle heart disorder and his mother carried the genes of the disease without ever getting any of the symptoms herself. Instead, Jamil was born with the disease and started getting sick when he was only 5 years old. Thankfully, his life was (temporarily) saved by his parents’ decision to leave their tropical home country of Osiria and travel north to Gafron, in search of proper treatment for their son. Ever since then, Jamil has had a relatively good medication to his illness, that keep most of the symptoms at bay so he can live almost normal life. Only the most violent seizures get through and force him to rest for several days. However, even if his medication does make his life easier and is probably the reason why he is still alive, it is not able to cure him. As of the beginning of the story, there is no known cure to brittle heart disorder.

Style: He does have quite elegant style, although the way he dresses is not really that unusual for an Osirian that lives in Gafron Empire

Creator's note: Since the story does have a steampunk-ish fantasy setting, one of the ways it shows is in the characters' clothing fashion. Although not completely similar, the clothing fashion of Gafron does resemble that of Victorian Era England and Northern America.

How do they walk?: Because of his long legs, Jamil walks in quick, long strides. Often people who have shorter legs than him (like Eliza and Chihimi for example) do have some trouble keeping up with him.

Do they have any disabilities?: Other than his illness that is slowly but surely killing him, no.

ll Intellectual/Mental/Personality Attributes and Attitudes ll

Did they go to school?: Yes, he did. First, at ages 10-18, he studied in the Hillshire Boy's Academy (which is an all-boys boarding school located in Dawnham, in northern Gafron Empire) and after that, he continued his studies at the University in Shihai, in Coscar Isles. His studies in the University lasted for 6 years, after which he started to work together with Dr. Okaro.

Native language: Oudian (the native language of Osiria, which Jamil speaks with his parents)
Do they know any other languages?: Yes, he does know a few alongside his native language. He is fluent in Eklese (the official language of the Gafron Empire. It is basically English, but just with a different name) and Gisgese (the official language of Coscar Isles. This is Chihimi’s native language, which Jamil uses to converse with her. He is trying to teach her Eklese, so that she'd understand and would be understood by her new surroundings better.)
How smart are they?: Jamil has a very sharp mind and he is very intelligent.
What is their strengths?: Not only is he smart, he is also very persistent (stubborn even) when he sets his mind on something. He does have a wast understanding of things (due to both his studies and work, but also just his curiosity).
Weaknesses?: Other than his lack of physical fighting skills, he can be very impatient and at times way too harsh with his words.
Character's short-term goals in life: Buy a house in Gafron so that he and Chihimi can have a proper home, teach Chihimi some basic Eklese, so that he doesn't have to translate everything for her.

Character's long-term goals in life: Finish the research he started with Dr. Okaro, raise Chihimi into a proper young lady, find a cure to his illness

Creator's note: Now, these goals of his are just some basic ones that I can mention without giving too much of the story's plot away... wouldn't want to spoil things too much ;D

How does your Character see themselves?: It depends, he has his ups and lows. But more than anything, he wants to know that his existence has a reason, that his life and everything he's gone through wasn't in vain, even if it is likely that he will never reach old age. That is also why he works so hard; Since he knows that he is going to die and that at least in theory it can happen at any moment, he wants to create something, so that when he finally is on his deathbed, he can look back and tell himself that his life did serve a purpose.

How does your Character believe they are perceived by others?: Jamil would probably say that he must come off to others as a distant, lonely person. While this is true to those who don't know him that well, those who do know him would say that he is a very kind person, who is constantly being way too strict towards himself.

How self-confident is your character?: That depends entirely on what he’s up to. In things he has experience in, he is very confident, since he knows what he is doing. If he doesn’t have a good grasp of what he’s supposed to do, his confidence will start to waver.
What would embarrass your character the most?: Since he always tries to act tougher than what he really is, it would embarrass him quite a lot if someone saw him crying (aka. displaying weakness).

How does your character feel about love: He understands that it is a very powerful emotion. He deeply graves for it, but also fears it, because of its intesity.
About crime: Generally he thinks that crime is wrong, but he understands that sometimes things aren't as black and white as that.
Politics: Other than due to his research, politics don't really interest him all that much.
People of a different sexuality: He is alright with people having different sexualities, be them similar or different to that of his own.
Different nationality/race: Jamil does not judge people based on their nationality. He'd think if he did that, it would make him a hypocrite, considering his own background.
How does your character show affection/love?: He goes all the way to try his best to make sure the person he loves is happy. This includes him being there for said person and trying to make them happy by getting them something he knows would make them smile.

How does your character handle grief?: Most of the time he would likely just try to suck it up. He would only allow himsef to cry when he is alone.

How does your character handle physical pain?: He has quite high tolerance to it, since he has had to deal with it quite a lot from a very young age due to his illness.
Emotional pain?: This is a lot trickier for him to handle. Most of the time he would likely just burrow his emotions inside and try to get over his pain by denying it.
Is your character typically a leader or a follower?: Jamil is typically a leader. Although he doesn't have problems with following orders if the situation demands it.

Describe their sense of humor: He has a very sarcastic and dry sense of humor. Most of the time people around him are left to wonder whether he was trying to be funny or if he was actually being serious.

Hobbies: Jamil loves books and learning new things. One of his personal, "silly" dreams as he would put it, is one day to have enough money to buy a large house, where he could have a massive library in, just for his passion of collecting books.

Talents: Jamil is a surprisingly good at telling stories. (This is one thing about him that Chihimi absolutely loves). He has a rich imagination, so it isn't much trouble for him to just start telling a story and just come up with things as he goes along with it. As to more serious side of things, he has a very good memory, which has served him well in both his studies and in his work.

If any, what musical instruments can they play?: Jamil himself can't play any instrument, but he enjoys listening to music quite a bit. Flute music is especially close to his heart, since it calms his mind and brings him back to the time when he was a child and his father would often play for him. Flute music is also a very important part of Osirian culture and their most important diety is often pictured playing a flute.

ll Emotional Characteristics ll
What would your character like to change in his life?: He'd like to find a cure to his illness. Athough he claims to have accepted the fact that his illness will kill him, in reality he doesn't want to die and is terrified of it.
What frightens your character?: Other than his own death and the death of those he cares about, Jamil is very afraid of never finding out what his purpose actually was.
Are they afraid of the Dark?: He used to be when he was a child, but not anymore.
Death?: Yes, although he would claim otherwise.
Is your character judgmental of others?: This depends entirely on the person. Jamil usually doesn't judge people hastily, unless he knows that said person has done something he'd consider bad.

Is your character generous or stingy?: Towards other people, he is very generous. However, if he'd need to buy something for himself (other than food or medicine or books and things he'd need for his work), he suddenly becomes very stingy.

Is your character generally polite or rude?: Generally he is quite the polite gentleman, unless provoked.

Optimistic or Pessimistic?: He tends to be a bit pessimistic, but tries to learn to see things in a more positive light.

Introvert or Extrovert?: Introvert

Daredevil or Cautious?: Very cautious

Logical or Emotional?: Both, actually. He trusts his logic more, but emotions still play a huge part in his decision making.

Disorderly and messy or methodical and neat?: Methodical and neat. He is also a bit of a neat freak.

Would they rather be working or relaxing?: He likes both equally.

How do they feel about animals?: He likes them. Especially birds, which are his favorite.

They are most at ease when: When he is somewhere where he knows he doesn't have to worry about anything. Like for example, when he is visiting his parents.
Ill at ease when: When he's stuck in a bed, sick. He always fears that his condition gets so bad that he is not able to make it through this time.
What is their best quality?: His generous heart. It might not be obvious at first, but when he truly does care about someone, there is really nothing that he wouldn't do to make sure that they are happy.

What is their biggest flaw?: Probably his impatience.

ll Spiritual Characteristics ll
Do they consider themselves religious?: To some extend, yes. Osirians typically worship a god named Epros, which is the god of fertility, nature and wildlife. He is one of the four dieties knows as "the four creators", his importance to the Osirians comes from the fact that he is the creator and protector of Osiria and its people. Like many other Osirians, Jamil's worship of Epros is noticable from his appereance: Osirians who worship Epros often wear a lot of golden jewelry to honor their god.

What is the character's family life like: Currently it is quite hectic actually, since his job keeps the two of them on the road constantly. However, Jamil is planning to settle down in a city within the Empire’s borders as soon as possible , since he feels that the constant traveling is not good for Chihimi and he wants her to have a proper home.

Have they ever had any pets?: Well, Chihimi would sure want one, but at the moment they don’t have any pets since they wouldn’t be able to take care of it, since Jamil’s work keeps them on the road. Jamil himself did have a pet bird (a red/orange parakeet) when he was little, which he named "Atsu" (which means "Red" in his native language), but it has already deceased.

Are they a virgin?: He is.
Have they ever cheated on a partner?: No, since he's never had a partner. However, Jamil isn't really the type of person who would do that anyway.
Who was their first crush?: That would be a young woman named Natalia, whom Jamil met at the library many times during his studies in the University. However, he never said a word to her and only admired her from a distance.
Have they ever been married?: No, he hasn't ever been married.

Are they in any kind of romantic relationship?: No, currently he is not in any kind of romantic relationship and he is determined to keep it that way, even if it does make him feel very lonely. But since he knows that his illness is very slowly but surely killing him, he thinks it is better for everyone if he does not to let anyone get too close to him. The less people there are to mourn his demise, the better.

Who is your characters closest friend?: That would be Liutenant Theodore Wilkins (or just Theo for short).
Jamil and Theo first met way back when both of them were 10 years old and started their studies in the Hillshire Boys' Academy. For the 8 years that they studied in the Academy, they were roommates at the school's dorm. Personality-wise they are indeed quite different, but that doesn't seem to bother them much. As Theo would put it, they complement each other nicely since they're so different.

Describe relationship with any other significant friends:

Dr. Saigou Okaro : Chihimi’s biological father and Jamil’s former mentor who offered him a job as his assistant and research partner after Jamil graduated from University, because he saw a lot of promise in the young man. Feeling very honored by his mentor’s offer, Jamil accepted the job. Eventually the two became close friends, in fact Saigou and his wife Kiyo did consider Jamil as a part of their family. The death of Saigou and Kiyo was a huge shock to Jamil, but because he had Chihimi to take care of, he tried his best to control his feelings and stay strong, for her sake (Although, at first he is clearly panicking... It was much thanks to his friend Yaya that he was able to calm down and regain his composure)

Eliza Rowley: A young, self-proclaimed inventor that Jamil hired early in the story to be his assistant and help him with his research and in taking care of Chihimi. Jamil was truly impressed with Eliza’s inventions when he first saw some of them. Personality-wise Eliza is a friendly person, but also a bit secretive as well. Because of her more or less humble origins, Eliza's point of view regarding some things is somewhat unusual, for example she does not have an understanding of such things as "personal property" (and she is quite the pickpocket). Although she does have a very sharp tongue and she might say things she doesn't mean when she's provoked, deep down she does have a very caring heart and she truly does want to do something to help people. Her biggest dream is to one day open a shop of her own, where she could sell her inventions and offer repairs for different kinds of appliences her customers might have. Unfortunately, she does have one larger obstacle stopping her from fullfilling that dream: She does not have the funds or any idea how she'd get them.

Yaya Amami: Jamil's friend from the University. She is a few years younger than Jamil and is still in the middle of her studies to become a heart surgeon. Initially, it was her who approaced Jamil after she found out about his illness. First, Jamil tried to get rid of her, thinking that her prying of his condition and butting in his company wherever he went was very annoying, but Yaya was persistent and wouldn't give up trying to become friends with him until she'd succeed. Due to his illness, Jamil can offer her loads of research material by being her guinea pig. In return, she is helping him trying to find a cure to the illness, before it manages to kill him. Personality-wise, Yaya is a very bubbly and talkative personality, who loves to tease Jamil, because according to her, he is often way too serious. Jamil is not amused by this and he does often comment on Yaya being too nosy about his private life and he does get annoyed by her teasing.

ll Physical Characteristics ll

(Due to his illness and his genes, Jamil has always been underweight. And it shows, from how skinny he is. Not only that, due to his genes he is the type of person who could pretty much eat whatever he wanted and still not gain much to any weight from it).
Body build: Jamil is a tall, yet very slim young man. He has long, slender legs and arms and a short back in comparison. His body build is quite different from a typical Osirian man; Typically, Osirian men are tall and if not muscular, then they are at least robust. Jamil is neither of these things.

Eye Color: Purple
Glasses or contact lenses?: He does wear glasses. He hates putting anything into his eyes, so contact lenses are out of the question for him.
Hair Color: Chocolate brown
Type of hair: Jamil has thick, wavy hair
Hairstyle: He keeps his hair fairly short, although it is long enough to cover his forehead and top of his ears.
Complexion: Olive

Health: As I’ve stated earlier already, Jamil’s health is unfortunately not so good. He has been diagnosed with a genetic heart and blood disease known as brittle heart disorder. Known symptoms of the disease are breathing difficulty, chest pain, seizures, increased thirst, exhaustion, irregular heartbeat, excess sweating and feeling light-headed. Without proper medication, the seizures often reach extremes at seemingly random times. Heat, lack of sleep, poor nutrition and heavy labor/exercise are known to make the symptoms worse.

Since it is a genetic disease, it is possible for a person to carry the genes of the disease, but not suffer from it themselves. This is exactly the case with Jamil’s family: His grandfather (mother’s father) died due to brittle heart disorder and his mother carried the genes of the disease without ever getting any of the symptoms herself. Instead, Jamil was born with the disease and started getting sick when he was only 5 years old. Thankfully, his life was (temporarily) saved by his parents’ decision to leave their tropical home country of Osiria and travel north to Gafron, in search of proper treatment for their son. Ever since then, Jamil has had a relatively good medication to his illness, that keep most of the symptoms at bay so he can live almost normal life. Only the most violent seizures get through and force him to rest for several days. However, even if his medication does make his life easier and is probably the reason why he is still alive, it is not able to cure him. As of the beginning of the story, there is no known cure to brittle heart disorder.

Style: He does have quite elegant style, although the way he dresses is not really that unusual for an Osirian that lives in Gafron Empire

Creator's note: Since the story does have a steampunk-ish fantasy setting, one of the ways it shows is in the characters' clothing fashion. Although not completely similar, the clothing fashion of Gafron does resemble that of Victorian Era England and Northern America.

How do they walk?: Because of his long legs, Jamil walks in quick, long strides. Often people who have shorter legs than him (like Eliza and Chihimi for example) do have some trouble keeping up with him.

Do they have any disabilities?: Other than his illness that is slowly but surely killing him, no.

ll Intellectual/Mental/Personality Attributes and Attitudes ll

Did they go to school?: Yes, he did. First, at ages 10-18, he studied in the Hillshire Boy's Academy (which is an all-boys boarding school located in Dawnham, in northern Gafron Empire) and after that, he continued his studies at the University in Shihai, in Coscar Isles. His studies in the University lasted for 6 years, after which he started to work together with Dr. Okaro.

Native language: Oudian (the native language of Osiria, which Jamil speaks with his parents)
Do they know any other languages?: Yes, he does know a few alongside his native language. He is fluent in Eklese (the official language of the Gafron Empire. It is basically English, but just with a different name) and Gisgese (the official language of Coscar Isles. This is Chihimi’s native language, which Jamil uses to converse with her. He is trying to teach her Eklese, so that she'd understand and would be understood by her new surroundings better.)
How smart are they?: Jamil has a very sharp mind and he is very intelligent.
What is their strengths?: Not only is he smart, he is also very persistent (stubborn even) when he sets his mind on something. He does have a wast understanding of things (due to both his studies and work, but also just his curiosity).
Weaknesses?: Other than his lack of physical fighting skills, he can be very impatient and at times way too harsh with his words.
Character's short-term goals in life: Buy a house in Gafron so that he and Chihimi can have a proper home, teach Chihimi some basic Eklese, so that he doesn't have to translate everything for her.

Character's long-term goals in life: Finish the research he started with Dr. Okaro, raise Chihimi into a proper young lady, find a cure to his illness

Creator's note: Now, these goals of his are just some basic ones that I can mention without giving too much of the story's plot away... wouldn't want to spoil things too much ;D

How does your Character see themselves?: It depends, he has his ups and lows. But more than anything, he wants to know that his existence has a reason, that his life and everything he's gone through wasn't in vain, even if it is likely that he will never reach old age. That is also why he works so hard; Since he knows that he is going to die and that at least in theory it can happen at any moment, he wants to create something, so that when he finally is on his deathbed, he can look back and tell himself that his life did serve a purpose.

How does your Character believe they are perceived by others?: Jamil would probably say that he must come off to others as a distant, lonely person. While this is true to those who don't know him that well, those who do know him would say that he is a very kind person, who is constantly being way too strict towards himself.

How self-confident is your character?: That depends entirely on what he’s up to. In things he has experience in, he is very confident, since he knows what he is doing. If he doesn’t have a good grasp of what he’s supposed to do, his confidence will start to waver.
What would embarrass your character the most?: Since he always tries to act tougher than what he really is, it would embarrass him quite a lot if someone saw him crying (aka. displaying weakness).

How does your character feel about love: He understands that it is a very powerful emotion. He deeply graves for it, but also fears it, because of its intesity.
About crime: Generally he thinks that crime is wrong, but he understands that sometimes things aren't as black and white as that.
Politics: Other than due to his research, politics don't really interest him all that much.
People of a different sexuality: He is alright with people having different sexualities, be them similar or different to that of his own.
Different nationality/race: Jamil does not judge people based on their nationality. He'd think if he did that, it would make him a hypocrite, considering his own background.
How does your character show affection/love?: He goes all the way to try his best to make sure the person he loves is happy. This includes him being there for said person and trying to make them happy by getting them something he knows would make them smile.

How does your character handle grief?: Most of the time he would likely just try to suck it up. He would only allow himsef to cry when he is alone.

How does your character handle physical pain?: He has quite high tolerance to it, since he has had to deal with it quite a lot from a very young age due to his illness.
Emotional pain?: This is a lot trickier for him to handle. Most of the time he would likely just burrow his emotions inside and try to get over his pain by denying it.
Is your character typically a leader or a follower?: Jamil is typically a leader. Although he doesn't have problems with following orders if the situation demands it.

Describe their sense of humor: He has a very sarcastic and dry sense of humor. Most of the time people around him are left to wonder whether he was trying to be funny or if he was actually being serious.

Hobbies: Jamil loves books and learning new things. One of his personal, "silly" dreams as he would put it, is one day to have enough money to buy a large house, where he could have a massive library in, just for his passion of collecting books.

Talents: Jamil is a surprisingly good at telling stories. (This is one thing about him that Chihimi absolutely loves). He has a rich imagination, so it isn't much trouble for him to just start telling a story and just come up with things as he goes along with it. As to more serious side of things, he has a very good memory, which has served him well in both his studies and in his work.

If any, what musical instruments can they play?: Jamil himself can't play any instrument, but he enjoys listening to music quite a bit. Flute music is especially close to his heart, since it calms his mind and brings him back to the time when he was a child and his father would often play for him. Flute music is also a very important part of Osirian culture and their most important diety is often pictured playing a flute.

What would your character like to change in his life?: He'd like to find a cure to his illness. Athough he claims to have accepted the fact that his illness will kill him, in reality he doesn't want to die and is terrified of it.
What frightens your character?: Other than his own death and the death of those he cares about, Jamil is very afraid of never finding out what his purpose actually was.
Are they afraid of the Dark?: He used to be when he was a child, but not anymore.
Death?: Yes, although he would claim otherwise.
Is your character judgmental of others?: This depends entirely on the person. Jamil usually doesn't judge people hastily, unless he knows that said person has done something he'd consider bad.

Is your character generous or stingy?: Towards other people, he is very generous. However, if he'd need to buy something for himself (other than food or medicine or books and things he'd need for his work), he suddenly becomes very stingy.

Is your character generally polite or rude?: Generally he is quite the polite gentleman, unless provoked.

Optimistic or Pessimistic?: He tends to be a bit pessimistic, but tries to learn to see things in a more positive light.

How do they feel about animals?: He likes them. Especially birds, which are his favorite.

They are most at ease when: When he is somewhere where he knows he doesn't have to worry about anything. Like for example, when he is visiting his parents.
Ill at ease when: When he's stuck in a bed, sick. He always fears that his condition gets so bad that he is not able to make it through this time.
What is their best quality?: His generous heart. It might not be obvious at first, but when he truly does care about someone, there is really nothing that he wouldn't do to make sure that they are happy.

What is their biggest flaw?: Probably his impatience.

ll Spiritual Characteristics ll
Do they consider themselves religious?: To some extend, yes. Osirians typically worship a god named Epros, which is the god of fertility, nature and wildlife. He is one of the four dieties knows as "the four creators", his importance to the Osirians comes from the fact that he is the creator and protector of Osiria and its people. Like many other Osirians, Jamil's worship of Epros is noticable from his appereance: Osirians who worship Epros often wear a lot of golden jewelry to honor their god.
