oh no! i would try grocery stores or craft shops but i'm not sure how things are divided where you live

yep, i remember that in the path of darkness (i want that career soooo badly!) good luck making your effects
*about the flour, it will take a few layers to get a good texture

and you're welcome, i'm just happy to be of any help it was really fun figuring out how to make it

I know our craft store hasn't it... I think... I'll ask & I suppose there's some grocery stores I haven't checked yet, either... I'll find something, somewhere... somehow
Haha... I'd love that career, too! Or the creature effects guy... who hasn't had a good day if he's not covered in fake blood

Ah! Good tip! And about how much flour to per layer?

Thank you... for the luck & for the tips You're awesome!

i'd rather have the creature effects but i'll take what i can get
cover me in blood!

there is no exact amount i know of, the best way to find out is practice. figure out what you like with just soap and flour(+ a few drops of water to take the place of the dye).

sorry i can't be of more help here as you can see from the first picture, i mixed my solutions in caps. i used about 11/2 to 2 pinches of flour

Hihi... no kidding! *<-covers you in blood*

All right... experimenting I'll go! Thanks again!! And you've been a looot of help... without you I'd have used grainy, dirty sand instead of flour, maybe

Yay for blood!!

Maybe... now we may never know But thanks still

I assembled the walls & floor now, so all that's left is paints (and rust ) and the 'furniture', pretty much...

how do the walls and floor look?

Nautical-Nieky In reply to Kernim [2008-11-03 20:13:46 +0000 UTC]

Well right now they're bare... white 'tiles' on the walls, with wood above & bare wood floor below... one wall's cracked a lot with pipes sticking out & some more 'tiles' are 'missing' on the other walls and a bit cracked... they will hardly be white any more when I'm done with them I hope to score some linoleum (?) for the floor... and on the wood above the tiles I hope to create the peeling paint effect At the bottom of the walls are a few vents for the Vent Nurse figure to fit in (bottom left: [link] ) And in the broader wall there's a door modelled after the one in SH1's Otherworld Midwich Elementary School for which you need the picture card, with the two Body Bag Men tot he sides (just like it appears in in the painting there (though my version won't have the body bag men (I'mo use them elsewhere ))) And since the room's inspired by PH's room in the SH2 Labyrinth I might install a red light above the door in the non-tile wall-part... (and a fan overhead)

where do you find the time for all this?...

it sounds amazing,
of course you'll post a picture when you're done right?

I don't I stealed it from my due projects people are waiting for... and from eaten words, misunderstood warning icons on labels, spooky feelings that make your hair stand on end, and the smell of lavender I has a serious shortage of time
But I'm glad you like the sound so far... though I'm yet to steal the time to dumpster dive and score me a patch of stolen linoleum (and somehow, somewhere find a new fan)
And ho mai A picture is just the start... I hope to include it in my delayed Silent Hill stop motion animation Possibly in a recreation of a Pyramid Head suggestive scene

That's a brilliant effect That thing was spotless before, I assume
But the effect is so realistic... though the problem I'm having is that I don't know where to get food colouring and I think the model paint I have is too thick for the same effect... I'll try thinning it down, though... and meanwhile I'll keep looking for food colouring to try it the proper way, too
You know by the way in the Path of Darkness: Making 'Silent Hill' feature Carol Spier tells how they used lard as a release agent to create a peeling paint effect (in the school)? I'mo try that, too
But first... thank you for sharing this... I'm sure, even if the food colouring remains absent, the flour will be an excellent addition to my effects Thanks so much!!
