Description
This has become one of my favourite places to go if I want to do some photography or sketching. It's ominously called 'The Strangles' beach, probably because the waters are quite treacherous. It is a very steep walk down and back, which deters most people from going and ensures it's quiet and empty.Although I focus on art, I nearly always go walking with my camera in my pack. One time I went to the beach and there was a man in a top hat riding a penny farthing along the shoreline, whilst being mobbed by seagulls...and I of course did not have my camera! So now I put it in just in case. It’s also really helpful to get your own reference photos and have a break from art. I like the immediacy of it, and having to be out in nature to get the photo, rather than hunched over my desk scribbling away.

This caught my eye in my feed and I almost flicked past it, so glad I didn't! So I took in the photo: nice place, lovely light, sweet capture. Then I flicked to you profile and see it's not generally photography. And so I have to see if you've included a comment on the post, and I wasn't disappointed. A penny-farthing! Love the image and the story.
Absolutely love it.

Yes it was a very weird but beautiful scene, which I at least remember very vividly! Poor man, he was peddling away, but not escaping! Thanks so much!

Its a good habit to take a camera with you I do the same and like you say its when you don't have your camera there are missed opportunities. I know people carry mobiles but you cant beat a proper photo. This is a proper photo too! A lovely atmospheric scene.

It’s true, I always miss it if I don’t have it. Mobiles are amazing now, but they just don’t have the same capabilities that even my old dslr has, they just give you that extra bit of creativity and control. Thank you, it was a lovely sunset to watch!
