This was an actual exchange I had with some guy at Anime Boston. He spent about 20 minutes looking through my art just to drop that nugget of wisdom on me...at a CARTOON CONVENTION.Though seriously, I swear I'm usually more tactful, polite, and receptive to criticism. This dude just pressed the right "Make Kevin behave like a total ass" buttons. X_x

Seriously, if you're taking this approach of insulting whoever criticizes your shit, then you're refusing to improve upon that criticism.

Since this happened at an anime convention; I'm guessing the dude was a weeaboo who thinks "cartoony=American" and therefore cartoony art styles are inferior to the "serious" Japanese stuff he's used to. I knew a LOT of those people back in my anime club days. But I was hoping they died out after anime became more readily available and we American otakus learned that not everything that comes out of Japan is Cowboy Bebop and Miyazaki quality. -_-
Anyhoo, great job capturing the awkwardness that comes when someone fails at grasping the meaning of "CONSTRUCTIVE criticism". LOL

I hate people who think they are being snide without having to be honest.
It would be nice if people were just bare bones honest about their opinions instead of hoping you can read between the lines.
And while i'm at it, I find Peanuts comics more endearing than your work. If only because Charlie Brown's pain amuses me more.

i'm sure any other respectable cartoonists like yourself would say the same thing! *cough*me*cough* all of my pics, even my "realistic" art has been called cartoony. But come on..... is there really any other better art style that makes people smile, laugh, and not wanna kill themselves at the same time!?

My family are the same as that douchebag. They want me to do more realistic drawings instead of cartoons all the time.

Well, realistic drawings are a great way to grow and improve as an artist, and it'll have effect on the sketchy cartoony stuff as well 
I'm not trying to be an insufferable know-it-all, but I know that I used to only do cartoony doodly thingies but I realized that trying to do some realistic illustrations/paintings made me grow alot and made my cartoons better as well!
