I wish I was better versed in the photographic technique so I could give this high praise but I'm not so I'll have to just leave it at this is one of the most beautiful images I've ever seen. It's stuff like this makes me admire photography. Have you seen the special edition DVD of Se7en? It has a documentary on the still photography which reminds me of this. It's just beautiful :favlove:

Hi there, i am coming to start on the ten comments i owe you from forever ago, i shall start with this one...
i have to agree with the guy who said up there that this really makes you want to know more... i have already started guessing about how this girl works and why she wanted those tatoos, and i LOVE that in a peice of art... it really speaks alot through one picture.... and her hair came out quite beautifully, very soft and flowing, and bright...
very nice kevissimo

This is one of the most beautiful pieces I have seen in an extremely long time. Yesterday when I first saw it I was just striken with awe, the technique of oilgraph is something that is like the dreams I have...I was thrilled with the possiblity of it being true. I will certainly try it in college...This image is remarkable, I love the glow of her hair and all the textures everywhere. The tattoos on her really draw my eyes in and make me think deeply.
This is what Art is to me. Art for Art's sake!

I'm printing that out and putting it in my journal to remind me why I continue to do this on days when it's just not there...
Thank you so incredibly much.... That means the world to me.

that is SO unique and beautiful.
i love the blending around the head,...with regards to the hair and the surrounding textures.
the face is so ghost-like,...haunting.
did you start out with a black and white photo on this one? did you draw in the tattoos as
well?
sheesh, i'm a real fave-o-thon today,...but, i'm gonna have to fave this as well. it's just
so good!

Thank you (again as always)
Yes, it started out as a straight b/w print. (shot at about 1/2 second) the tattoos are hers.... and it's the first time she ever shot with anyone.... thanks for the fav!

This is most creepy. I can't even begin to tell you. Its like everything I was feeling and thinking about today. The colors, the mood. Everything is sumed up up in this piece. >_< The whole designs on the back. I was actually drawing a picture like that this morning. Then I was looking for some tattoo designs for myself. Then I wrote a poem about bodies and I can go on and on. But this is really shocking to me in more than one way.

Wild....there are no accidents...
It's stuff like this that makes it all the more worth every ounce of pain that goes into it....
I am grateful to hear she spoke out to you over the miles in such a personal way....right on...

I wanna know more about the process. how it's constructed. It's just beautiful. I guess I just dont understand 'oilgraph, wax, photgrapghy, and ritual performance...' Where do the performances happen? I wanna see. Stunning.

Thanks so much....
Here's my first journal entry that explains it as close as I can get... [link]
I do the performances wherever I can. Usually at the exhibits themselves. I just got invited to speak at a major conferance back east in the fall....will do two there. I'll have more in LA here in a few months....

Whaouu ! She's really look like i imagine people living in a small country in center of north america (i only know san-fransisco who is really not representative), do you know her, i mean do you speak with her about her tatoos and life, cause your portrait is like a open door and you want to know more...

We're actually in that small country of Los Angeles. Very very left of center....
Yes, we've spoken much about alot of things and she's a good friend. Sadly she moved north due to getting work up there...
thank you for all your words....that is exactly what I had hoped for....
