I've been wondering for sometime, what inspired to change Kai and Jess from ottsels to a cat and a red panda? And just so you'd know, I'm not sure if Kai's tail looks cat-like enough, but that's just my opinion.

Jess was never an ottsel to start with.
As for Kai, it's simply because Kai-kitty is one of the nick-names I have, so she eventually just...became a kitty. Rough logic, I know. I don't refer to her as a cat, just a kitty (even though its the same thing). Of course, it's fictional, so I've taken the liberty of leaving Kai's tail more otter-like than cat-like. X3
