Yeah, so Jak my be my 2nd fave character from the games (you all know who's #1!) but darnit if the guy isn't fun to draw.
I am still getting used to my scanner and the way things work with it. Some things are easy to scan with (perfect the first time around) and others I am still playing around with the level-changes to get the image looking right. With this pic, I gave up after about 10mins of fiddling with the levels, because I couldn't get it looking anywhere near like the original piece
The original has much stronger-looking colours. Like the green on Jak's eyebrows and Soul Patch are a deep forest-green...nothing like the colours you see here. X3
Oh well. More playing around with the scanner next time.
EDIT: A-HA! Now THIS is what the colours SHOULD have looked like with the first scan! - Just like the original! :3 Finally, Jak no longer makes you need a pair of sunglasses to look at him and his bright skin.

Scanners kill everything. xD But it still looks really, really awesome! A bit too bright, but I really like the green in his goatee. >3 Skin looks really nice, too!

oh man are you so right! i mean with the second favourite character of course, we all know who the real star of the series is, but yeah you are so right hun! he is such bloody fun to draw! so pretty, so darn nice to look at.
love this little pic. the jakX one...ooohhh baby! so fine!! love for the way you did his hair and his other furry facial features, and his EYES!! man hunny, i love the way you did them! you can just gaze ino them forever, and i will! also like the way you did an 'x' in the backgroud too.
and the little chibi ones are so cute! makes me wanna play more Jak actually..and draw lots more of him. thanks for this Kai! you rock and rule at penwork!

A helpful tool with color adjuestments is photoshop. I used to hate my scans, but after getting photoshop CS2, I can change light, color, hue, ect. I'm usre you're familiar with all that though. I hate working with scanner adgustments, I just don't have the patience. XD

Well, I have Photoshop Elements, and in all honesty - while I use the levels on it and such, I find getting the hue and such done on the scan itself is better...because once scanned in, I find that changing the levels makes it more...well...'artificial' than the original scan. I have no idea of how to explain it, but the scanner is actually better than the levels in photoshop.
