Nope, the Northern Lights refers to the Aurora Borealis typically to the far North in Alaska.

No, I simply took a photograph of a aurora borealis in Kansas. The Northern Lights are the auroras in Alaska.

Sorry, but then can you see the aurora where you live (Kansas)? Is it also visible as in Alaska?

I'm so grateful you posted this beauty! My Mom grew-up on a Ranch, 30 miles East of Denver, Colorado. She told me that They saw the Aurora Borealis,
a few times looking North from their place, at night! That was in the late 1930's. I've told people what she saw and most said it was too far South for that!
I was starting to doubt her until I saw this! I always wanted to witness this! Maybe someday! WHAT A CAPTURE! This a "wowie-zowie" Photograph!
The Denver Suburb that's near our Ranch is called: "Aurora"! I wonder if this is why?
Western Kansas! Who would have thought! Thank You!

Was hardly visible to the naked eye. The picture was a minute and half exposure.

Oh how I wish I were in Alaska to see something like this.
That's magnificent. Interesting that we're actually looking at the past because stars shine some light-years away.
Great work! .
