i finally did something that is good imo^^ not quite what was in my mind, but.... well, i think i just passed this time

hmm when u say eyes too big, do u mean the pupil size or the over size of the eye?
the ratio of her pupil size to eye is small but her overall eye size is big
lol i wonder if that made sense xD
i really like the shading for this portrait but i think where u shade makes her look rather...unappealing actually
like the depression between her lips and nose is too dark making that area stand out a lot in the white giving 1 the impression it's really deep o_o;
the line connecting between the tip of the lips to the side of the nose should only appear if she's smiling very widely but here she isn't thus it looks like it's a wrinkle, it shouldn't be used or should be a lot lighter if u still wanna portray it
lol that's the think about female faces, u have to be very careful and subtle about certain things if u want them to look pretty xD
but your doing a good job, keep it up!

well i didn't say her eyes are big, infact i see them alright! but people told me they are big^^'
hehe that is why i am practicing "female" portraits! it is much more easier for me to do a male portrait!

Her eyes are bit too big for realistic style, but I everyting else is great IMO.
I can't really help you, because I fail at drawing

woot! i wish you were my art teacher
but i am a bit dissapointed! cuz i have used her eyes as a proportion for all the parts! if i show you my old portraits, you'll see that the eyes were very small!

yes i get your point about 3/4... but i just thought that i should master the proportions first!
guess that manga i've been doing all this time has messed up my sense for proportions

My art teacher says that manga can mess up your drawings pretty well. I don't know if it is true - I draw cartoons all the time, and it doesn't disturb my works.
I don't know what to say else - just work hard kicky!

i'll tell you why it messes up! if you start doing manga without having practiced realism, then when you get used to manga, it would be very hard for you to convert the proportions you're got used to! and may be vise versa! cuz manga has some specific proportions of its own! but i've always been practicing real bodies... so my only problem is the face!
but i got it now, i'll try searching some photos and practice on them
