HOW TO MAKE YOUR CRYSTAL PONY LOOK REALLY GOOD [link]
TIPS
*When creating the clipping mask, merge the outline and color layers and paste the texture over the entire pony.
*Instead of creating just the texture mask(s) [link] , create another mask over your pony, use the bucket tool to make it white, and turn the opacity down to 20% to get a even more show-like crystal pony like so --> [link] and [link] .

This is a really great texture thanks a lot for sharing!
Tho i did notice one thing!
When you put the texture over a pony and lower the opacity it really dulls the colors a lot, I've found a solution to that for anyone interested :3c
Instead of lowering the opacity, use Overlay on the layer and then lower the opacity instead of just lowering it! It makes the colors stay nice and bright! I use Sai but I think photoshop has Overlay too.
EX)
1 is the texture with overlay at 40% while number 2 is the texture with no overlay at 10%
The texture also seems clearer to me this way too!

I used paint tool sai but photoshop should work with it!

Unfortunately, no... and to be honest I'm not sure how one would do so. o: I make ponies on Illustrator all the time but I've never figured out how to put the texture over them in the program. After I finish making my pony I just use photoshop or sumo paint to put the texture on.

Is it normal for the color of the pony to get lighter with the mask's opacity? I turned it down, but it made the pony's colors lighter... But other than that one little thing, this tutorial is perfect! Thanks ^.^

You can get GIMP online for free, it's basically a free Photoshop. I'm pretty sure it has all the same features, just a different layout.

Oh I almost forgot you can use deviantART's build in program deviantART muro as well, though it's a bit trickier as you have to erase the extra bits of texture by hand.

Well, if you need an art program to use there is a free online art program called Sumo Paint ( sumopaint.com/app/ ) which I actually made a tutorial on to make a Crystal Pony ( fav.me/d6fk7a0 ).
If you want to though and are able to there are also a couple of free art programs you can download:
