So This is awesome. Your little Pip is freakin' adorable an you have me hooked on your story. I am also completely grape jelly over your pod design... I know that's a weird thing to point out.

The Gardens of Equestria... A project designed to cleanse all of Equestria of radiation and taint, making it suitable for the widespread growth of plant life, clean water, all powered by the most powerful magic that exists; the magic of friendship...
Oh, wait, forget about that, it's not important. I changed my mind halfway through the story about what the climax and central plot point will be.

Hang on a second, isn't the SPP protected by an impenetrable shield powered by Princess Celestia? How exactly do the NCR plan to evict Littlepip?

I don't think the use of force is being implied here. I imagine that at some point during the last ten years the control of the SPP must have been given to the NCR with LittlePip acting as their proxy.
But now they have reached a point where they are able to take more direct control. Refusal would turn LittlePip and Celestia in rogue elements.

Very good. I always visualized the inside of the SPP as being considerably fancier, but I like the story so far.

Looks interesting, but I'm a little confused: are the NCR kicking her out and replacing her with a NCR technician? Is she going to go out back into the world? I thought she wouldn't be able to live without the life-sustaining healing matrices of the pod?

king-koder In reply to KingArthur5 [2014-03-28 23:58:37 +0000 UTC]
The NCR plans to take full, absolute command of the SPP; everything that happens in there will be regulated and monitored by the NCR and it's technicians.

Also, this is shockingly well-done for something made in Paint.

.........kay is a little itnersting.................. but you missed a major issue though.
largely, littlepip cannot, at the very least, leave the pod indefinitely, let alone just take breaks from it. she is plugged in twentyfour seven. largely because a side effect of the pod seems to be that her body cannot survive without it once she entered it. perhaps she can take brief forrays out of it, maybe, but she has to live in there the rest of her life.
also it is celestia's soul in there not her memories. soul transfer into the machine. also i do not think there is a way to enter it short of using spike's flames to do so.
if pip was evicted, she would rapidly die.

Alancar2 In reply to Lordoffantasy [2014-03-30 15:55:15 +0000 UTC]
LittlePip concluded all the damage she took during her adventures has left her with serious physiological issues. At some point in the book she said she wouldn't live to grow old.
The pod's life support is helping her manage, however it is not like she is going to drop dead if she leaves for more than a few days. For as long as she isn't running around getting shot, she should still have a few decades of life on her, especially if she is seen regularly by doctors.
In fact, the NCR should have access to medical technology more advanced than pre-war tech, since they absorbed much of Red-Eyes operation. She may be better of leaving.

Kkat has explicitly stated that Pip can leave the pod and 'enjoy activities with visitors'. Hence the rogue winds in the Afterword. Just sayin'.

yeah she can do that. but she cannot teruly leave. the pod becomes her life support and her body cannot live too long without i.t

psp7master In reply to Lordoffantasy [2014-03-29 03:15:47 +0000 UTC]
Yes she can. She chose not to because of her devotion, and b) because of her muscles weakening. It's stated in the Afterword. Also, in the Afterword, it is stated that she left thr pod and is in one of the vestibules with Homage.
So I'm afraid you severely misunderstood something.

Lordoffantasy In reply to psp7master [2014-03-29 04:49:38 +0000 UTC]
.............ummmm i just read the afterword, and it said nothign about weakening muscles. and nothing about her leaving her pod for extended periods of time either.
little pip is never giong to be able to truly leave that pod, that tower, and that is the reason why it was such a major sacrafice. she could have not done so, she could have gone with homage.......... she knew that she had to sacrafice herself.

psp7master In reply to Lordoffantasy [2014-03-29 06:54:21 +0000 UTC]
*sigh*
If you have doubts, ask Kkat. She said explicitly that Littlepip -can- leave the pod and 'enjoy activities with visitors'. That includes Homage. Now, from the text:
"Her continued habitation in the Celestia Hub being as much out of dedication to a promise as it was for psychological and physiological concerns."
"Plus, while not constantly minded, the weather still needed to be regulated so that the farms could run at maximum production."
“It’s Homage’s birthday, so sh’e up in the Celestia Hub with Li’lpip,” Calamity informed her. “Ah hear they’re spendin’ the whole day in the Autumn Vestibule.”
As you can see, Littlepip left the pod and went to the vestibule and spends time with Homage.
Sorry to break your headcanon, but it's like that. Though, no one is preventing you from creating your own headcanon in which Littlepip can't leave the pod. ^_^

.................... no you just proved me right here. psyiological concerns. she cannot survive outside of the pod for LONG as i said constantly, and there is the proof of that. leaving the pod does not equal the ability to survive in the world anymore.......... shakes head. the only way to leave that place, anyway, is by dragon fire.
all of this going on this your comic, however, just cannot happen. they cannot evict her from it, and she would die if she was forced to. they would not have the technoogy nor know how to somehow reverse the effects of linking with the system.

Tinskin In reply to Lordoffantasy [2014-03-28 22:23:03 +0000 UTC]
Ten years of of rest may have been enough for her to recover. Perhaps not completely but likely enough that she can go out now without keeling over. There was not a single particularly nasty injury that put her in there, it's just that she got shot a lot and irradiated and mutated and messed up a five ways to Tuesday. And there was the pink cloud, and the broadcasters, and the drugs. OK so she did put her body through hell but it has been a long time with what may have been the best preserved equipment in the entire wasteland.
I think that as long as Little Pip doesn't jump in front of a bullet she should be OK. (she's fucked)
What I really want to know is how they are making her leave if she doesn't want to. She has a shield that is not only a Mega-spell, but is also powered by Celestias soul. And who knows what other kind of absurd prewar defenses the tower would have. In over 200 years the Enclave could not get in there, what would have changed that so she couldn't just turn the shield back on.

It's not a side effect of the pod, it's a side effect of all the trauma her body endured during the course of FO:E action - back then the pod saved her life, she would be dead by this time. But now rhe civilization has recovered and there are other ways of keeping her (and other old wasteland wanderers) alive then suspending using pre-war tech.
Honestly, I never liked that conclusion, there were thousends of reasons why she didn't have to stay in SPP, it feeled as forced as the original Fallout 3 ending (by which this was certainly inspired) and even though it was ending of choice for my character, I didn't like it here. Nothing held my LW from FO3 to the world at that point. But here, she has friends, lover... I dunno, it just felt wrong. I realy like where this comic is going, btw, keep it up!

Thanks.
I have never watched nor played a actual Fallout game, but after reading Fo:E, I decided to learn what I could about Fallout 3 and it's similarities with Fo:E. My knowledge is limited to the wiki, and that's when I also learned about Broken Steel.

no it isn't. if you remember she developed a healing factor. when her body is erradiated by magic she begins to regenerate tissues and repairing herself. she literally regenerated her entire leg when it was severed after being exposed to all that energy. how much her extended lifespan negates or makes up for the damage to her body is uncertain though.
she chose to do so because, ultimately, she knew that this was the best she could do for others, and because celestia had been alone for so very long.

I'd just connect the Crusader Mainframe to the SPP and let Celestia take control of the weather system. Then the NCR bureaucrats can scream all they like because nopony is getting in or doing anything without Celestia's approval.

FrozenShepard In reply to BenRG [2014-03-28 18:32:19 +0000 UTC]
They can't do that. Rainbow Dash deliberately severed the connection between the two systems to prevent that. They would have to completely shut down the mainframe to do so and they can't do that with Celestia inside it.
