Murderer class General Offensive Unit (top), with Psychopath class ROU to scale.

The Murderer class is based on detailed descriptions of the Limiting Factor in The Player of Games (part 1) and the Joiler Veppers in Surface Detail (chapter 19). Essentially: one third of a kilometre long, cylindrical, pointed at the front, flat at the rear, with 3 long blisters near the nose, and 5 fatter ones around the middle. I have tweaked the proportions of my earlier version (although I still like that one) because the larger blisters obscured the cylindrical body that is a strong feature of many Culture warships. I feel that making the weapons pods slightly smaller increases the familial resemblance (to ships like the Psychopath). Likewise the addition of the ring, which on the Psychopath represents the main habitation section. Jernau Morat Gurgeh's experience of the interior of the Limiting Factor suggests that accommodation aboard the Murderer class was more distributed through its volume, but I like the commonality of the feature (plus, as soon as I added it, it reminded me of Thunderbird 3).
