I must admit that you are the most interesting artist that I know. I am always excited about your new pieces or tutorials, huge amount of useful information. Great to 'know' you!

Thank you very much Tomasz !! I didnt have time to write some more info under each step, but the logic is simple,Β i make a rough construction in the beginning, then i quickly add some local values [without much thinking in this one] and some random quick background. Then i decide on a lightsource and so i start rendering the surface accordingly [flat shading algorithm mainly] then i work on the inbetween adding more detail and some textures, and then i play with contrast etc to produce the result i wanted in the end. Then i do quick coloring by applying colors with color mode layer and adjustements after that.
Lets both keep up !!! Thanks again

Thanks! That helped me to better understand your process on this one. I have a question, because I am struggling currently with one important thing - did you, in the past, had a problem with finding your own style / technique of painting? I mean, I have a few favourite artists including you, Justin Sweet (justinsweet.com/?page_id=515 ), Jeff Simpson (jeffsimpsonkh.tumblr.com/ ), Michael Komarck (www.komarckart.com/bk_cov01.ht⦠) and many more and I am in that stage of "oh I wanna paint like him/her", but I know that it is nonsense, because I will always be a copy of someone and not original. How did you found your own way of painting? Just painting instinctively and not thinking about other artists too much?

Thanks for encouraging mate !!! I was probably struggling to because i didnt understand what style was about. After some time i thought about style and figured out it was something that had to do with a personalized way to apply fundamentals/technical stuff and preferences in subject matter [ design of things, ideas, etc. ]
So lets say for example both of us have mastered technical issues of painting,Β and so we proceed to create the same scene. However you choose to do your painting using charcoal, while i choose watercolor [black and white] to do the painting. Both our scenes will look realistic but under a certain "filter" , your filter will be named Tomasz, mine will be named kostas.
So because of these you actually dont worry about style, because you already have it within you, in the form of preferences and certain handwriting qualities.
Also to further include examples, try to think both of us being photographers,Β what were going to be the critiria for determining our style differences when both of us shooting at the same scene? maybe you choose to under-expose them and have them dark, etc etc etc.
The problem usually arises by confusing style with our never-ending technical difficulties.
Thats how i think about it, i hope this can help you somehow !!!
