Weapon(s): The Sprites cannot use weapons, but Pokemon can use tools to enhance the Sprites' abilities.
Mimi's spinel, for example, tunes their energy back into the visible light spectrum.

History
Nobody knows when the Sprites came into existence, not even the Sprites themselves. Whether the energy in Lahgenias brought them to life, or they brought the energy within Lahgenias to life is something that only the fates themselves can answer. What the Sprites do know is that they were given life to take care of the land, and so that is what they do.
Every Natural Sprite is born knowing its purpose: from the smallest Forest Sprite to the haughtiest Wind Sprite. Their sole reason for existing is to make sure that the balance of Lahgenias' energies is maintained. They push and pull energy back and forth in an eternal dance with the very land itself. A dance that, as of late, has been increasingly chaotic and fragmented.
Mewtwo's influence has upset the balance that the Sprites have known for centuries. Long-held beliefs and traditions have been cast aside, and now the Sprites are all but shells of their former selves. While they once openly interacted with the Pokemon who can see them, the majority of Sprites have gone into hiding. They fear the Pokemon: creatures who control powers the likes of which they will never know, and who can bring an end to their eternal existence with a simple wave of their hand.
The fact that Lahgenias still has pristine waters, vibrant forests, and clear skies amidst the chaos of war can be partially attributed to the Sprites- which makes their recent disappearances all the more disturbing. The areas where they have vanished seem to turn blackened and bare: unable to recover from the rampant energy corrupting them. What has caused this disappearance? None know. The Sprites have theories, of course. Perhaps the corruption has sunk into their ranks, polluting them from the inside until they disappear. Perhaps Mewtwo has shifted the balance of the land to such an extent that their extinction is inevitable.
Whatever the case, the remaining Sprites continue to tend to their duties. They do so in a mixture of necessity and fear- for if they falter, then not only will the land itself be lost, but each and every one of them as well.
New Developments as of Main Quest 6:
Following the discovery that Sprites are nothing more than fragmented souls bearing Mother's light: the Sprites have found a new peace with their existence. How they interact with Pokemon moving forward will depend entirely on the colony and, in some cases, the individual. And of course, there are rumors that a new species of Sprite have come into existence...

Extras
There are now 5 known kinds of Sprites: Forest, Wind, Sea, Lost, and Dark
Forest Sprites are the Sprites of the land. They latch onto lush growths and supple plant life. Forests tend to be their preferred habitat, though it's possible to find Forest Sprites anywhere where the flora is plentiful. Forest Sprites are known to be quite skittish, but also the most open of the Sprites. They are giddy and excitable, and their community thrives on jokes and lighthearted pranks. Snarky comments and small jabs are not uncommon amongst the Forest Sprites. Their snarky attitude is contrasted by their appearance: delicate butterflies that illuminate the daytime skies.
Wind Sprites are the Sprites of the sky. They were once the closest to the Pokemon and often bragged about their exploits to all who could see them. Since Mewtwo's destruction, however, the Wind Sprites have secluded themselves in the highest reaches of Lahgenias' skies. Proud beyond comparison, the Wind Sprites are difficult to tame and even more difficult to compromise with. Free as the birds that they mimic; once an idea is in their head, it will likely spread throughout Lahgenias like the very wind itself. Gossip is their favorite pastime.
Sea Sprites are the Sprites of the ocean. They spread far and wide throughout Lahgenias' waters, and their attitudes vary just as much as the ocean's temperament. Some Sea Sprites are as calm as a placid day, not bothering with the war or the current attitudes toward Pokemon at all. Others are aggressive and fierce like a violent swell. Of all the Sprites, Sea Sprites are both the most likely to interact favorably, and yet also the most likely to cause harm. The most radical among their rank have been known to call out to those who can hear them and, in an act of rebellion, lead them to drown.
Lost, once known as Unnaturals, fit their names to a T. These Sprites, as their name implies, are not like the rest of the more "Natural Sprites." Instead of being born from Lahgenias itself, Lost are born when a Pokemon experiences strong regrets; so strong that they tether their very soul to the source of that regret. Lost are sometimes born with memories from their past life, but it's more common for them to lose all sense of self except for a lingering feeling of regret and a vague knowledge of the source. Until their regret is addressed, a Lost cannot move on.
Finally, the Dark Sprites, Father's latest creation. Selfish, determined, stubborn. They take after their sprite, but often with the darker elements brought out. But that can be a good thing. It leads to a very opinionated sprite. One that will demand to be heard, but with the loyalty to defy death.
How were Sprites made?
- They evolved.
The first "Sprites" were nothing more than shards of Mother's light. One day, a shard found a soul, accidentally merged with it, and boom! We got the Lost. Turns out that having that bond with Mother makes it easier for Lost to linger around, very nice. Mother approves. What Mother did not realize is that some of those initial Lost did a silly thing and made a second connection to the land. Those evolved over time into the Natural Sprites. Which means that all Sprites were once Pokemon? Amazing. :0 Natural Sprites lost the ability to return to the Pokemon cycle, though. They evolved their own Natural Sprite rebirth cycle. It's very rare for a Natural Sprite to become a Lost again, and considered taboo in their culture...though as Lily has proven, it's not impossible.
- Aside from Natural Sprites becoming Lost being taboo, nobody currently alive (including the Sprites themselves) knows how Sprites were made. I'm just sharing it as a fun fact. :3
- Because the Natural Sprites have that whacky self-enclosed cycle, Mother assumes they aren't Pokemon souls, and rather just evolved pseudo-sentience.

Fun Facts
- Anybody is free to create and/or use a Sprite character. Just be aware that Sprites are powerless in all situations.*
* Dark Sprites are uh, they are definitely a thing that may or may not follow that rule.
- Sprites don't have mouths. They 'talk' through energy: a bit like telepathy. This is represented with "italics" when they speak.
- Sprites are bound to the world through 'tethers.' Natural Sprites (Land, Sea, Sky) have 2 tethers- one to Mother, one to the land. Lost only have the Mother one.
- Sprites cannot directly harm Pokemon, and Pokemon cannot directly harm Sprites. The only way to harm a Sprite is to destroy its tether.
- Sprites can tether themselves to Pokemon, but few are willing to do so (Yes, this is still true even after MQ 6).
- Consent is very important in Sprite culture, especially consent involving death. Sprites choose when they want to leave the world. When that happens, the Sprites all celebrate that choice and hold a party for the leaving Sprites, commonly hosted by a pokemon called a Messenger. When Mewtwo emerged and changed the landscape, a lot of Sprites lost their tethers and died prematurely. Many Natural Sprites grew wary of Pokemon as a result. That wariness still lingers in some pockets of Spritekind.
- Pokemon above a certain power threshold can innately see the Sprites without special typings. Mythicals are 50/50. Some can see the Sprites, some can't. True legendaries are always able to see the Sprites. Special cases can exist, though. For story purposes, as long as you can explain it, you're free to choose if your character can see/hear/interact with the Sprites regardless of powers/type level.
+ Some Pokemon infected with the Purity just...see them. It's not an everyone-gets-it thing, but if you want to use the Purity as a means to see the Sprites, go nuts. It's linked to Mother, so. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
- All species of Sprites disappear at night and reappear in the morning. They cannot fight this urge: it's hardwired into them.*
* Oh look, another rule that Dark Sprites might not follow.
