The escalator in this picture is from Westfield Garden State Plaza (New Jersey, USA). The one you're thinking about is the escalator in Okadaya Mores (Kawasaki, Japan).

Escalators are awesome, I have not even run up a "down" escalator. I just happened to wait. I walk up the "up" escalator when it moves, but that is all I do to avoid any injury...
