Totodile is a crocodile, so I went a little more reptilian than the official design. I think Cyndaquil is based off an echidna, and they've got long thin faces so I went with that for the drawing!

From what I remember Cyndaquil was based on young honey badgers just with long snoot

Or maybe both. They don't just use a single inspiration for pokemon.
I will even say it is most probably both and possibly even something else/more too.
