Oh, I've longed to draw this she-cat :3This, I mean, is the best unofficial mean cat in the whole series. If Lizardstripe hadn't been the way she is, then the whole Brokenstar-thing would never have been
But she's really cool, and I like her better than other antagonistic characters

That's cool! I personally have a soft spot for Lizardstripe, even though she is a bit of a meanie. I'm writing a fanfiction about her, actually. ^_^

Anyway, I hate it when peope go 'Oh, Lizardstripe hated her kits!' The fact is, I don't believe any queen truly hates their kits, unless they're Mapleshade or someone.

Well, you didn't see either of the two abandoning them. Not even Mapleshade, for all her cruelty, left her kits on purpose. Which reminds me...Lizardstripe, to me, appears to be more 'evil' than Mapleshade. I mean, Lizard lived the average life in a Clan, and bitched mostly I think due to the fact that it was part of her nature, something she was born with. Although that doesn't make it right.Β
Yet, Maple had a normal life, the love and excitement that comes with a forbidden relationship. Then she had her kits, and having your love's children is supposed to be one of the most wonderful things to happen to you, but it wasn't. Her secret was uncovered, and suddenly she's rejected by every other cat she knows and loves, and gets thrown out from the only home she's ever known. Then she loses her treasures, her kittens, to the river (which is the symbol of her lover), and arrives at his place only to realize that he doesn't care, and has decided to move on with another.... If that doesn't break your mentality into pieces, then I dunno what would.Β

Anyway, I agree that Lizardstripe is a lot less likable when you think about the circumstances, but I never got the impression that she hated her children.
And about Mapleshade...yeah, her life sucked. Though I don't believe that EVERYONE rejected her...after all, not everyone rejected Leafpool, even though it was common knowledge that she ran off with Crowfeather. Still, the outcome is different every time with forbidden love. 
(And I just had the thought that maybe Mapleshade was a bit of a Lizardstripe even before the whole falling-in-love-with-a-RiverClan-guy thing.)

No, she cared for them even though she complained (which was kinda funny to read), and then again, ShadowClan behaviour = grumpy.Β
Perhaps not, but like you said, different times, different reactions. And although I feel really bad for Mapleshade, it does not justify her actions of wanting to kill of everyone else, even though her going bonkers explains a lot. (And true, I think you're on to something there. She really doesn't have the makings of a sunny, all-sweet she-cat XP)
