104 hours because of extremely high detail and accuracy settings.

Thanks a lot, with practice and patience, you will get much better than me because I no longer do this kind of stuff frequently.

ye..i just did one at pretty high settings and it took 1 hour 20 minutes...i can see if it is on max how it can take that long. But T2 wont let me do super sized renders because im not registered or something like that...T_T

I confess that making shinny rocks still mostly escapes me. Did you use a bmp overlay + strong lighting to make them.
I do see a strata ( I think ) which, if so, is well made.
I like way you tilted the terrain. Forgot what shader is used, been a while since I used TG2.

I like your gallery. What you post seems to be art you have worked hard on.
Very nice work Kix!!

kixtg In reply to Sgtgrandpa [2008-02-04 19:02:40 +0000 UTC]

I used a reflective shader for the rocks.

Yeah, it's a strata.

And thank you very much for the comment!

I can see I need to back at TG2. I didn't know there even was a reflective shader. That sounds like a fun tool to play with.
Your welcome too. Love your work too

Amazing work, yet another reason I dont use T2. 104hrs???? Planetside need to get it together and come out with an update if their going to charge actual money for their software

And, I agree. They said they would optimize it for multiple-core CPUs.

There are some artifacts here and there but overall (taking in account the render time) it's superb and very well made

Chromattix [2008-02-01 12:20:14 +0000 UTC]

Great Terrain, some areas seem banded perfectly, and others are tilted. And the shiny look of the rocks is interesting, its like they are made of Obsidian, which suggests there are volcanoes nearby.

Terragen 2.

ZonkoTM [2008-01-30 06:25:11 +0000 UTC]

That's beautiful. The supershininess of the rocks makes it a little surreal, like they're huge ancient heaps of metal or something.
Rad.

Some of the rocks are too shiny, but the clouds could definitely pass as a photo. >3 Go Kix~!

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

kixtg In reply to Stacatto [2008-01-30 05:10:12 +0000 UTC]

The problem here is that they weren't rendered as rocks, but as some really reflective surface. :/
