Description
About the photograph-Amazing how fast Fall is approaching here in Colorado and I still have a massive backlog of photos to process from last year.. In fact, I just finally got around to getting this image done this morning. One of the things I have learned through the years is to really study where you are when you are photographing. Notice the smaller more intimate details for it is often times these images which can communicate well to the viewer. I was actually shooting a large landscape image with stunning mountain views at sunrise when I noticed this happening. The light and the way it was just so alive and saturated, showing a wonderful abstract pattern of texture in the reflection of the lake fascinated me. Combine that with some fog lifting off the shoreline from a very cold Autumn evening the night before and you have the makings for something rather special as far as atmosphere goes. I intentionally held back the forest by adjusting my Grad ND to give it more contrast and a bit of a darker feel which I felt would create more drama in the image itself. When you are out shooting this Fall, make sure you take in your surroundings a tad more closely, blink and you might miss it! The small things are sometimes the most satisfying!

I love that you made the focus of the photo the water instead of doing it half and half. Gorgeous!
