Description
Meet Klaus. My German Shep and my best bud.
Intensity, ya, I think that about sums it up here. Look in the eyes, what do you see, what do you think he is thinking? Captured on a cold snowy winter day, please look at the full size for details, because honestly, they are pretty amazing. Ya I am happy with this shot you can say...let me know what ya all think.

Excellent - the slightly off-centeredness, B&W captures the feeling well. I think he's thinking, "Why are you just standing there with that thing in yer hand I can't touch? Let's goPLAY!!!!"

Nice shot. I love the snow on him it appears like it just fell on him. His intensity is captivating. The contrast of his fur is great in b/w. I had a magnificent Akita that reminds me of you boy. My Akita had a black mask and loved to dip his nose in the snow. heehe.

in late 60's (I guess ) we had a TV show called "Czterej pancerni i pies" so it's smth like "Four ironcladed and a dog" - it was a story of 4 polish soldiers, a dog ("szarik" - "the gray"(smth like that
)) and their tank ("Rudy 102"). it was all about II world war and stuff... Polish classic

I always enjoy seeing something unique in your gallery. This is defiantly not a βtypicalβ Kkart shot
I love the framing on the image. Coming in so close on the body that you loose the ears, legs, etc. creates a very nice intimate feeling. For the shot. Your choice of aperture works wonderfully here. All the face, eyes, nose, snout, eyebrows, are all in focus, then it blends into the background as we move further into the picture. Helping to keep the focus right on the face and eyes. Choosing black and white helps to simplify your composition. Now itβs all about lines and texture, the contrast of the snow on your dog. Even your background is a nice simple white. It all works so nicely together!
The only thing I have is a comment about the eyes. I think that the reflection in the eyes is a little too big, it covers up, proportionally too much of the eye. Iβd like to see the pupil and the iris in the eye, instead I find myself trying to stare through the highlights to find the parts of the eye that I wish to connect with. Iβm also not sure how to correct itβ¦ perhaps the flash on the camera set to fill could have brought up the overall levels of light and balanced out the reflection. But then you would loose the nice highlights from the surrounding area. Such a difficult thing to get, just the right balance of reflection and detail in an eye.
The picture is absolutely gorgeous!
Jon

Hey thanks Jon, I much appreciate the in depth comment and suggestions! It would be VERY hard to get any detail in his eyes, they are essentially black, and you have to look close to even see it. Not sure how I could really capture that, but worth a try! I am always up for a challenge!
Ya the details in this shot always gets me....I was fortunate to actualy really nail the overall look and atmosphere in this one....I'll have to take some more when it's snowing again

Great Detail, I envy those who can get such nice close up shots but thats aside the point.
Looking into his eyes, and looking at his face he looks like he maybe a bit sad, but Like you stated "Intensity" hes giving a nice Stern intense feeling just by the look on his face, to me saying that even if its cold out, even if I got snow all over my face, Ill stick by you.
Thats what I get from it, an intense look from a loving friend.

Great shot, I love shepherds. And the look he gives with his eyes based on the setting is awesome. The snow on his chin is great, and nice angle, I'm glad you didn't center his head . Great shot, once more. I had two shepherds myself, Demark and Zeit, but they both recently passed away due to old age
.

They were both twelve, my male (zeit) died on my birthday over the summer nad my female (demark) died on my mom's birthday just over November, what birthday presents they presented us with .
And as of now, I don't think so, we plan on traveling for a while, like go up to Europe over the summer and it's not a good idea to leave a puppy on it's own at a kennel.
