Description
IMPORTANT - NEW VERSION WAS RELEASED! ---> kochich.deviantart.com/art/Theβ¦------------------------------------
Here comes the animated version of the Time Gear painting . Animated in AfterEffects and Coded in Flash, (the latter probably in the least efficient way possible).
Created as my little nod to the Pokemon 20th anniversary, and a tribute to this amazing game, which (despite having not the best critical reception) is probably my most favourite from the franchise.
The animation includes a simple infinite loop of the gear spinning and pulsing, ... and something really cool happens if you manage to click the moving leaf when if pokes from behind that dead tree stump.
You can also skip right to the leaf part by clicking my signature in the bottom right corner, if you don't wanna wait a full minute for the loop to come back, still gotta click the leaf though or the loop will just start again.
------
Pokemon and the games are the property of Nintendo, Game Freak, Chunsoft and every other company that worked with them and whom I forgot.
Music used comes from the game's OST: "Time Gear" and "In the Future", both composed by Arara Iiyoshi.

This isn't the newest version, but if possible do you think you could make a background-sized mp4 or gif of this? I'd love to make a Wallpaper Engine background of this but I don't really have the ability without something like that.

Well well, I do like that idea, and I don't really see any harm in helping out, so let me see what I can do..
The original video files are indeed mp4 (the H264 codec to be exact), unfortunately the highest resolution that exists of them is 1280x720, as they have been animated with the limitations of Flash (and my old computer) in mind. The files also do not contain sound, it is there as a separate file.
I'll share them and let you decide if you find any use for them.
----------------------------------------------------------
You can access them here: Google Drive link
For convenience, the link above contains the following:
- Β The old version of the animation (as seen in this deviation) in mp4 files, separated into three segments: The entrance, the main infinite loop, and Grovyle's appearance.
- Β The new version of the animation (as seen in the 0.2 update), at the time already rendered as a single file.
- Β The full SFX track of the old version - unlike the video, it is Not split into the three parts, so some cutting will be required on your side if you'll want only the main loop with sound.
- Β The full SFX track of the new version - same as above.
The music is not included, but I'm sure the internet has you covered.
Anyone can access the link if you're interested in a little peek behind the scenes, However it won't be active forever. It is likely to disappear whenever I feel like I need the storage space again.
----------------------------------------------------------
Hopefully that was helpful. Make sure to let me know if you make anything cool with it in the Wallpaper Engine, or anywhere else.

Thanks a bunch. I actually made one using the original static image, which helped me learn more about Wallpaper Engine and I think it came out quite nice.
Link is here, if you want to check it out:Β steamcommunity.com/sharedfilesβ¦
I admit I miss the pulsing effects, so I may at some point add the Time Gear theme to the video and make one that way. It seemed pretty dark when I viewed it in WE though.

That looks nice indeed. I wish you good luck in turning the assets I provided into an even better version, will definitely keep an eye out for it.

Okay, this is freaking cool!
Neat animation!
....Makes me want to try my hand at it- even though I have no experience at all (unless you count minor 3D animations).

Oh I wish. XD
I'm afraid I'm still a level or two behind in quality, but I'm working on it. (That goes for both a DD and becoming part of some decent dev company.)
Thank you, though, I really appreciate it!

This is amazing! You're a top-notch animator, and every detail--the song choices, the background, the NPC text, the way you interpreted how a Time Gear and its environment reacts when it's taken--you put into this was perfect! I love PMD, arguably more so than the main series Pokemon games, and this definitely took me back! I'd love to see other scenes from this game animated as well, especially in this style! Despite being noticeably different from PMD's original art style, you've still managed to capture the same feel of what the games tried to portray with this cutscene!
I literally just discovered you a few minutes ago thanks to someone linking this on the PMD subreddit. I'm definitely going to check in to see a lot of your other work, as well! Thank you so much for this! β₯

I'm really glad the animation succeeded in delivering its message in your opinion. It makes it worth the trouble (200+ animatioin layers XD).
