Description
The Tritium class was built as part of the military build-up by the Terrans against an--at that time--unknown alien threat that was backing the Orion space pirates and waging a proxy war through them against the colonization efforts of the Terrans near the Chi Eridani star system in 2044. With only 25 Montana class Man O' Wars to cover the vast area of local stars near Sol (60-light years out) a new class of ship was needed that could help patrol the space-routes used by both merchant and commercial colonization efforts of the Terrans. Thus, in 2044, a new design was commissioned that would need to achieve warp-4. From the various NXC prototypes of the 2044 to 2046 testing period, a new ship--the Tritium class--entered service with UESPA in 2048 as a "Caravel" (a fast ship intended for both patrol and exploration/mapping). The Tritium class was fitted with three LN-14 Warp Engines in a "triumvirate" configuration for maximum warp-field displacement.
