Well, I've actually already read the novel and seen the anime so I guess you can assume that I like the series. lol

It's very much a dark sort of comedy though. Thus, how much you will enjoy it will depend on how much you like that type of comedy formula. The novel is a bit different from the other mediums and trends towards a more depressing style. I'd probably recommend watching the anime out of all the versions. Although, the manga has it's merits as well.

In addition to being a dark comedy, you could also view it as a cautionary tale of what NOT to do if you are really into being an "otaku".
