Description
Ink on paper, coloured in Photoshop. Character design for pre-Beast Wars Depth Charge, based on the Transmetal toy. This design is meant to show Depth Charge as he was before Rampage happened. As with Convoy Primal, a lot of the detail is taken from the toy - the details on the wings, the overall look and transformation, the forearms, the colour scheme, and especially the head.

The transformation is pretty much the same as on the toy, save for some fiddling with the way his legs go around his chest-module. I used Depth Charge's toy as a model for the general look and colour palette of all the Omicron colonists, keeping features such as the shape of his head and his M-shaped "belt buckle." I wanted Depth Charge to have a more mechanical aspect than his Beast Wars for, hence the "cockpit" lid over his head. Depth Charge was one of the first design I did from this sequence of characters, and I'm still quite pleased with how he came out; he looks big, solid and powerful, as he should.
