Description Creating Interactions between Creepypasta OC's

Hello to all you out there in the creepypasta community! In this continuation of my guides on pasta creation, we’ll be talking about making your own fancanon for both official characters and your own OC’s. Or your own pastaverse, as it were. Basically, I’ve noticed that a lot of people create a good OC that may even have a good story. Problems occur, however, when the topic of how their own characters fit in with the other pastas they interact with comes up.

First off, I should mention that a lot of people, particularly many traditionalists, dislike the idea of their OC’s existing in the same “universe” as other pastas. There is some truth to this because there’s nothing wrong with making your creepypastas have their own personal existence like this, in a world where they are the only monsters out there. However, you can still have a good story if your OCs end up interacting with other people’s pastas. Yes, even the famous ones.

I should also get a few things out of the way that you definitely shouldn’t do. While you will inevitably need to make some changes to the original story, don’t make a headcanon that completely destroys the official canon. For example, if you give Slenderman a third proxy, you shouldn’t make Slenderman into a nice old man with unusually pale skin who lives in Candyland. That’s Splendorman’s job anyways. I like Splendy, don’t steal his job. And don’t create a scenario and then expect everyone else to follow it. For instance, if your OC is Slenderman’s third proxy in your headcanon, people may still only acknowledge Hoody and Masky. And above all don’t make your OC the cousin/lover/daughter/mailman of a famous pasta (I could give an example here but there are too many to pick just one). This is both lazy and frequently a sign of a Mary Sue type of character.

Now that we have the boring part out of the way, the first thing you should tackle before even wondering how your characters fit into the other famous pastas is how your own OC’s fit in with each other. How did all your characters meet? Have all of them even made contact with each other yet? What are their opinions of each other? Are any of them allies? How about enemies? Or are their attitudes indifferent? Perhaps their allegiances change on a regular basis? What accomplishments have they achieved together? What fights have they had? What do they have in common and how are they different? All of these are just sample questions, but you should probably think of these ones at least.

Most of the same questions apply to how they interact with the “official”, already well-known characters. There are a few additional considerations you should take into account, however. Specifically, even if your pasta is a being of indescribable nightmarish power and so on you shouldn’t make the well-known OC do something like cower in fear or be your OC’s servant. That might make sense in a realistic sense, but in a literary sense it might annoy people if you tell them your creepypasta could punch Zalgo’s lights out if she felt like it. This is because it again falls back to the other problem I mentioned with destroying an official, well-accepted character’s canon.

A good link to an official character if you’re afraid of having your OC be called a Sue is just to have them know your character. Not be friends with, not be rivals with, just have them know of their general existence. This makes them both take place in the same universe (or outside the universe, in Zalgo’s case), but not seem so connected that people think you’re writing away the accepted version of a character. You could even have them fight in one of your stories, with neither side emerging dead of course, just to show they are familiar with each other. This is a good way of saying “I have a creepypasta OC who knows <> but I’m not obnoxious about it”.

A lot of people get frightened away from having characters of their own interact with more famous pastas, but it can be done well. It just requires a little extra effort on you, the artist, to make something both believable and entertaining. Because at its core creepypasta is meant to be fun to be a part of. No one pays us to do this, we’re doing it cuz we wanna.

I know, she's so adorable. ^^ I always thought she and Tamaki made such a cute pair, when they got together at the end of the manga I was really happy. OHSHC is still my favourite manga of all time, along with Fruits Basket.

I know, it was so heartrending! I laid in bed thinking about what I'd just read, it was so moving. Who was your favourite character? I felt a lot of sympathy for Kyo myself, plus he's pretty hot. XD

I've gotta go do my drawing practice right now before I procrastinate on it any more, BTW.  I'll be on later tonight though if you wanna note me or something.

Yeah, I have 4 new OCs and am working on them. Their designs up and I am starting work on their forms, after that I'll finally get the stories up...
OCs are a lot of work, but if they're made right they are well worth it. This has been a huge help!
Could you maybe review my main OC?
fav.me/d7n36ad <--- Her form can be found there.
If you can't I understand, but if you can THANK YOU SO MUCH I NEED SO MUCH HELP! I have created Os before, but this is my first time for Creepypasta and the fandom gets pretty nuts over bad OCs...

She looks interesting so far, but does she have an origin story yet? If not that's something you might want to form.

Silver91100 In reply to KomradApex [2014-06-21 12:35:21 +0000 UTC]

I plan on writing it then adding a link on her form. I'm halfway through writing her origin so it shouldn't be too long until I do add it.

I'll have to admit I was pleasantly surprised by your character design, his description, and Grimm's backstory as well. The only real advice I could give you is to avoid making him too "cute", unless you wanted to turn him into a happypasta or the like.

RadelzeHMD In reply to KomradApex [2014-06-20 15:25:11 +0000 UTC]

I'm really happy to hear that that he's good ^^
Yeah, the "cute" part I'm trying to tone that part down. I never actually plan him to be "cute" from the beginning, but I'll try ^^"
Thanks alot

What of I don't like Splendorman? I kinda just avoid those OCs....to me, Splendorman and Offenderman and all those slender OCs are just other fans creations, which I personally don't know them and don't wanna deal with that kinda stuff....
Plus I don't view him as a a old man, I view him sorta different....

But it's just my opinion thrown out there, not in anyways being judgemental or trying to fight @.@;

It's just a whole different world when I view Slenderman, Many strange and weird mess up emotions are mixed in...and Sometimes that "sueish" loving feeling comes in with my OC, but...not in a really cute, sweet way....I actually feel like sometimes It drives me fucking crazy, like I'm hooked and like a little fish caught in a net, wiggling to get free from this strange addiction....

Sometimes, deep inside I wish I never knew the character slenderman in the first place.....

It's alright if you don't like a certain character. Everyone is entitled to their own opinions, naturally.

Buutee In reply to KomradApex [2014-06-20 15:51:00 +0000 UTC]

Right, just like I never expect for others to like my character, my character looks plain and really honestly she's just based off of me...I don't really put much thought into my characters as I used to and am actually getting discouraged because many ideas are already used or I just don't find it appealing, plus I'm just not in the right mindset for it.

KomradApex In reply to Buutee [2014-06-20 16:37:36 +0000 UTC]

Don't feel like all the good ideas have already been taken. This is art, there's limitless application for creativity.

True true, I just need to find my own inspiration, but I guess for now, I just see nothing (thanks to my anxiety)...Ah well, I guess I will continue to look and read at people's artwork until I get the sparks going in my brain.

Cheers~

KomradApex In reply to Buutee [2014-06-20 17:24:39 +0000 UTC]

I just want to mention you're doing the right thing by trying to find inspiration in other people's works. That's always a good way to get creativity flowing. I have anxiety too BTW, and I know it can really suck sometimes. I wish you the best of luck in creating your creepypastas.

Buutee In reply to KomradApex [2014-06-20 17:36:43 +0000 UTC]

I'm actually thinking on writing creepypastas based on my anxiety, but every time I think on it, it goes right out the door. .-.

But thank you for the luck I need it terribly xD

KomradApex In reply to sally390 [2014-06-20 00:39:08 +0000 UTC]

The main issue I have with her backstory is that she gained wolf-like traits from being in close proximity to wolves. That doesn't happen naturally, and if there was a supernatural cause for it, you need to say what it is to avoid confusing people by leaving out important information. You should also probably give her a more complex reason why she might want to hunt people than feeding them to wolves, unless she is just insane, but even then there would need to be a reason why she went insane and started murdering. Also, her name is a bit generic. There are a lot of "killer" OC's out there already.
I don't think you should abandon her but you should also continue working on her backstory, where she's from, things like that. Treat you OC like a real person when trying to think in their shoes, and remember to tell yourself if they're going to be realistic they need a good reason and explanation for their actions.

My only real problem with her story is it almost sounds like an adventure story with murder thrown in instead of a creepypasta. Maybe you could add an element of dread or the like?

You can still do that while maintaining a sense of palpable fear at what might happen next. Many of my own pastas are written from a first-person perspective.

When I made creepydish comics for laughs and for my friend's entertainment I had Jes hate stoner Ben cause come on, pft, there can only be one annoying small fry in the pack. In other words, the competed. Although Ben didn't really care and tried to piss Jes off. It was a one sided hate thing.

The more I learned about CP and MH I had Jes be chill with Ben, but only Hipster Ben and legit Ben.

I have nothing against any CP.
Just making Jes have character.

There's nothing wrong with wanting to make people laugh. No pasta, regardless of how scary it is, lacks potential for comedic gold. I'm a big fan of 's stuff in that regard.

CreepsDish was originally supposed to make all Pasta charachers comedic.

Maybe my fear of getting bashed for making a funny CP comic cause me to take CP too seriously. Besides the memes memes are naturally for the lulz

Indeed. It's like any other fandom in that there's lot of humour among the fanbase itself.
