This is less a planned out drawing and more like a sketch that ran away with me. When I was younger I used to do a lot of drawing like this, starting with a basic character design and building a setting around it with little more than a grudging acceptance of the limits of available space. Some of my ancient sketchbooks still have examples in them, although nowadays it is rare that I doodle something like this, since I have alternate ways to distract myself. This time, however, I made it far enough into the work to bother inking it, since I decided it was nice to show that I can, occasionally, figure out what a background is. The character is the gnome mage from our Pathfinder campaign, Fizzle Thornblossom, who we established (due to a mistake in calculating how much a gnome should weigh) was very fat as a young gnomeling. Nowadays she keeps herself trim by running away from giants and long treks through the wilderness, but her prestige class as a loremaster suggests that a sedentary life is sure to manifest again if she lives long enough...

I can only assume that she is looking up more cookie recipes.
