Description
For the Blading-Academy groupNotes on the floor plan/layout:
- All new students can get - or confirm - their dorm assignments from the desk in the reception area, and claim their copy of their dorm key. Mail (letters, packages, etc.) will also be delivered to each dorm's reception desk, for students to retrieve at their convenience. The reception area is also the waiting area for visitors from outside the academy.
- Each dorm has a cafeteria that provides breakfast, lunch, and dinner.
- There is also a laundry area, with washing machines and driers, so students won't have to send their clothes out for laundering every week.
- The student lounge is for anyone's use; students don't have to be staying in that particular dorm to stay in the lounge. Visitors from outside the academy may also make use of the lounge, once accompanied by an academy student or staff.
- The storage room contains extra bedsheets, pillows, blankets, and so on, for use of the students in that particular dorm. Any unidentified luggage belonging to new students will be placed in the storage room as well.
- Each dorm room has four single bedrooms, to give each occupant more privacy. Each bedroom has a closet (the dark brown rectangles in the layout) and a combination of bed and desk, in order to save space (see here and here for examples).
- There are 2 bathrooms in each dorm room so that occupants won't have to wait too long. Students in the co-ed dorms will want to coordinate with their roommates, to avoid any awkward incidents.
- Each dorm room has a kitchenette, not to mention a small dining table (seats four), in case students want to prepare their own [simple] meals (or have food delivered) and eat in the dorm room rather than in the cafeteria. The dorm room also has other pieces of furniture - couches, ottomans or beanbag chairs, etc.
- Students are free to decorate their individual bedrooms and rearrange the placement of bed and closet. However, renovation of any sort is discouraged, as is painting the walls a different color.
- The lounge may be used for studying or recreational activities, and so has several tables, chairs, and a TV, among other things.

This looks good! I like the idea of having a little kitchenette for simple meals, and having a laundry room.
I can so imagine my three's rooms--Fuyumi having the most decorated room with posters etc. while Nao having the least decorated room. Midori would be somewhere in between. I so wanna draw their rooms...

Heh. The mods and I were discussing the dorms at one point, and Rena/Stormie mentioned a kitchenette. I just took the best of the ideas, threw in a few of my own
Oh gosh, all those posters XD;Β I actually wanted to do something like that with my dorm room before - but it would have been a pain to get the posters back down from the walls when I moved out Β I know how you feel; I wanna draw my OCs' dorm rooms, too...but I'm rusty when it comes to drawing indoor stuff now OTL

Well, it worked!
Yep. Fuyumi sees the posters etc. as a substitute for painting the walls--if she could, I'm pretty sure her room would be covered in pink and blue paint. Nao keeps the decoration to a minimum, while Midori adds a few personal touches.

Atsuki's less likely to redecorate or add personal touches, compared to the twins - at most, she'd change the bedsheets and - if she has a window - change the drapes so it lets more light in (she likes using natural light to study/read when she can). Kei would also change her bedsheets the first chance she gets, and a different chair for her study desk. Katou's the one who's likely to add posters and stuff - his favourite sports team, maybe, or something advertising a Beyblade tournament the twins were in long ago.

Oh yeah, the bed sheets and stuff. Midori would definitely change those, as would Fuyumi (probably to something pinky, knowing her. Midori would be likely to change to darker. Nao... I'm not sure. Sure, she'd probably change the desk chair, but I think she'd leave the bed sheets.) And I'm getting the feeling Fuyumi would have called dibs on a room with a window in their dorm...and then probably drag Midori to go get new curtains. (Much to Midori's displeasure: "Why can't you go by yourself, little pest?! Nao said that I need to bring someone with me if I go out, so..." "I'm not your babysitter!" "But you're my friend, right? Besides, you might spot something you like!")Β
Gah, I'm itching to doodle their rooms now... Fuyumi's is going to be a pain, though. ("Do you have to absolutely cover your walls with things, Fuyu-chan?" "Of course! It looks too bland without, like your bedroom, Sophie-nee!" "Fuyumi...") I'll deal with Nao-chan, first, I think...

I myself can't see their bedsheets and stuff just yet lolΒ (poor Midori XD; ) but I know there's no pink anywhere, for both Kei and Atsuki XD;Β I'll just have to doodle their rooms or something and play with colors. Eventually XD;Β Good luck when you start drawing your OCs' rooms!

I'm pretty sure there is no pink to be seen with Midori (more like black, blue and red; probably to counter Fuyumi's love of the colour), and Nao favours red etc., so I know where you're coming from. (And yep, poor Midori. When Nao's not around... Oh. Dear. I'm seriously wondering how long it'll be before Midori snaps... Let's hope Fuyumi gets another plaything...I mean another friend to hang out with)
You too!

Layout looks good Kae. And it's good to have rules sat in place for decorating the rooms.Β

Haha, you're not the only one, I bet. I have a few ideas for my OCs' rooms, myself Β
Ooh, one thing I forgot to mention in the comments was that 'decorating' did not extend to painting the walls oops I just remembered now, so I'll need to update the artist's notes for this layout thing XD;

lol you don't *have* to draw Vin's room - but you can if you want to Β Uh...I hadn't actually thought about it - maybe a light blue or a light cream? XD; Β Cream probably looks better, but I'll be playing around with drawing the inside of the bedroom to show how the 'basic' one looks like, before a student has added personal touches. That might take a while to finish, though OTL

To be honest, I got some of the ideas from the on-campus dorms at my college XD; each one did have a cafeteria of sorts, and there was a commons area - one for entertaining visitors, another for residents. The rooms were likely smaller, though, and there was no such thing as individual bedrooms XD Β The bed-and-desk combo, though, was from an off-campus dorm, near where I was staying myself Β
Excuse me while I blush at the compliment asdhklds

Awwwww that's awesome that makes sense, my college did too. They were really stupid about the rules though as they wouldn't allow packed lunches (like me) in the eating places cos you they only allowed you to eat there what you bought there
fine on sunny days of course, but a pain in the ass for rainy/wet/cold days - luckily our teachers were more understanding and occasionally let us packed lunch peeps eat in the classroom.
Anyway, that wasn't a dorm college, just classes and go home one so the dorm ones probably better I'd hope
Awwwwwww it sounds nice your one though
And awwwwww *fans you awake*

Well, the university was a mix - the dorms were really for people who didn't live in town (like me), but there was a limit to how many people could stay in them Β so there were off-campus dorms (where I stayed until my 3rd year) and apartments for rent (sometimes the more expensive option). The dorm I stayed in was more like a house, so there were just a few students in it. We also had bunk beds or single beds, instead of them bed-desk combinations XD; I moved out, when my family got an apartment close to the area, because the new residents were noisier than the old ones OTL
Aww, some schools have weird rules, I guess ><;Β good for you had understanding teachers Β Most of my professors in first year understood how sleepy and/or hungry students could be, so they let peeps eat breakfast in class, as long as it wasn't a noisy meal.

Oooh I get ya
sounded like it worked out for you
until the noisier people came in anyway
but glad you were able to move out from that
I bet they do weird rules that make no sense to everyone else - isn't the whole world like that now and then
but yeah, we got lucky there
and awwwwwww that's good you had some understanding teachers too
