Art Terms of Use

They are each part of a graphic novel called The Descendants, a story of a world torn by war. Man and dolphin once lived together as equals, but lost to the ages was the reason for man abandoning them as the world was taken over by a new threat known as the Scelus that has enslaved the seas.

Nightstar
Tikes Mother, named for having a dark back and a whitish blotch on her left side. She loves to tell stories of the outside world to her son as well as songs of hope and of a guardian that once swam among them. Though others discouraged her from keeping her son, she guarded over and became very protective of him. When it would be her time to hunt shed send him deeper into the caves they call home or leave him with Shio or Ira until she returned, often bringing something back for her son to eat though he still nursed.

Tike
Shy of being 1 year old. He was born and grew up in a cave system the pod currently hides in and is the only calf of the pod. His birth was unwanted by some of the pod members in fear of a energetic calf giving their location away. Tike however was a very quiet calf, and very shy. He has never left the caves and only knows of the outside world from stories his mother tells him. While he knows of the dangers they face, he is ignorant of the scale of it.

Shio
Was once a worker for the Scelus, very observant she used her knowledge of their movements to become a matriarch to a pod of refugees, leading them safely from place to place staying one step behind the Scelus own movements. She became horribly wounded during one of the pods migrations when they were discovered. Her back was gorged into, taking off most of her dorsal and leaving a large gash to her back. Being vital to the pods safety they would not leave her and the few that were able to get away aided her to their next destination, a series of caves. Her wounds however left her disabled, unable to swim well anymore she urged the others to continue on without her, but none that remained knew her paths well enough to take her place or were too scared to leave.

Kalz
Shio’s son, and perhaps the only one who knows the paths his mother would take the pod well enough to follow them. A very aggressive dolphin he has taken charge of the pod yet has no desire to take them anywhere. He grew tired of their constant moving and finds it only delays the inevitable. The last attack of the pod proved such in his mind despite his mother trying to convince him otherwise. He also blames the attack of Tiderider, Tikes sire claiming the singer betrayed them and led the Scelus to them. To him there is no point in keeping hope going and get’s aggressive whenever he hears others sing of such, or of the guardian whom he believes is a myth or that he had abandoned them just as man had.

Aurora
A bright, cheerful, and very unusual looking singer. Being just a calf herself she’s just a little bit bigger then Tike is. She showed up after everything fell apart, and became Tikes guide on a long adventure, leading him on a wild ride though places of old. While her motives at first are unknown, she’s determined to guide Tike on his journey to discover the true story of man, and the true fate of the fabled Guardian.

Shano
A lone orca calf who escaped slavery (she was a worker: kurisutaru.deviantart.com/art/… ) with help of her mother who… didn’t make it. Tike runs into this girl who at first tries to act all big, mean and tough, from hearing that she was the first orca Tike has ever seen. However she didn’t appear all that scary. She had been hiding out in a series of caves that ran directly beside where she and her mother were enslaved, hiding under the enemies noses. She becomes Tikes guide though the caves, and teaches him a few lessens only the orcas would know that may aid him along the way.
