Description
This is my watercolour submission for the fair this year, a cheetah. I hated this painting while I was painting it. I couldn't get the drawing to look right, but I figured might as well start painting and see what happens. Well, things kept going down hill the first few hours of painting, but then things started to turn out good, it got better and better and I was finally enjoying myself, and in the end I'm very happy with this for a watercolour. It is the most detailed watercolour I've ever done. I found a method for fur that works really well on canvas, I would imagine it wouldnt work on watercolour paper though, it would wear down too much. For this reason, I prefer using canvas for watercolour because it doesn't warp and it can take ALOT of scrubbing and layering. I might do a tutorial on it when I find the time.EDIT- this won first place in the Intermediate watercolour category

Thank you! It really is, I think it's because you have to paint light to dark with watercolour, at least for me it makes it harder because I find it much easier to paint fur dark to light like with acrylics or digital XD

Hey, just wondering.. but how did you do the scrubbing and layering technique?? I was sitting in the middle of history class when Β my mind procured this image you made then I was trying to remember the technique you used to make it. This was much more intriguing than Alexander Hamilton hahaΒ

Haha! I was actually going to do a tutorial on the technique i used in a few weeks, once this last commission is done I will be making that tutorial, so in a week or two if you are ok with waiting for the real thing xD it would be much more helpful than trying to explain it with a comment XD

Thank you!! I think it would be good to do a tut on fur, I haven't been able to find ANY fur tutorials for watercolour that are actually detailed.
