Description Batch screenshot #2 for my new shipset of the Shofixti from Ur-Quan Masters. The picture contains a cruiser, a battleship, a dreadnought, a colony ship, a space station and a starbase.

That's not a constructive criticism, sorry, but I really dislike the set, and can't point my finger at why. Even though I KNOW it is supposed to be Shofixti, I just don't see it... Not the style at all (of course as referred to my personal view of the species)

I don't blame you for your reaction. The whole set is guesswork based on one old sprite, done in a way it could best fit the non-SC original sets in Space Empires V. Also the whole set may not feel right until I show an actual Scout, but since the Scout is a fighter in this set it doesn't look too much on a SEV space combat screen. Maybe I should put up a Scout portrait later.

A Shofixti battleship? Doesn't seem to fit their style.

In Space Empires you can play SC races in what-if scenarios, including the Shofixti operating a much greater military machine than swarms of Scouts. There's still a Scout in the set, but they can be seen in their full glory only in ground combat.

Still, I would not expect a Shofixti fleet to include extremely heavy ships... Simply doesn't seem to fit their style, unless their "battleships" are somehow lighter and faster than those of other species.

That's probably because the Shofixti had only the Scout in the Great War, and by then they were uplifted by the Yehat from a medieval existence.

On the technical side, there is a huge difference between SC and SEV, so naturally every SC shipset I make is a stretch of imagination. It's not that I have any choice, a complete shipset in SEV requires a fixed amount of 17 models designated as e.g. "battleship", which in the in-game design board means xxx kiloTons of component space with no component requirements in advance.

However there are certain "racial traits" in SEV that could emulate their ships being lighter and faster, though if I had to choose which race I would give these traits I'd rather give them to the Arilou.

They'll be dowloadable soon as part of a Space Empires V shipset. The links will be on this thread: [link]
