Description
Lastly is Toby Sharp, attempting to groove to the Silver Beat's tunes, but will most likely end up falling flat on his face (naw, he's not that klutzy... well, yes he is. Just watch your feet if you dance with him.)And of course, he is attending the Second Annual Menagerie Masquerade hosted by ~ioyousbook , and is dressed as ~ioyousbook 's hep cat, Anaximander Jones (the one in the middle.)
(Erm, ignore the awkwardness of the pose. I was lacking a proper mirror to pose in... but it all kinda works. Tobe's an awkward character, after all

Your use of markers is sick, I just wish I could color with them as smooth as this.

I find it hard to appreciate wearing pinstripes on clothes, but different people look different in the same clothes, and he looks cute here...

lol, thanks I totally understand what you mean- I personally like pinstripes (1920s, whoo!), but my mom can't stand them

Oh, man! I'm really diggin' the lighting and his pose and PINSTRIPES. I thought Toby couldn't get any more attractive than he already was...guess I was wrong.

Thank you so much! Glad to know Tobe's lookin' good; his ego could probably use some stoking

That awkward pose is perfect! The pinstripes really do make up for any awkwardness though - how you managed all that detail, I have no idea! O.o But it looks incredible Great colors, great anatomy work and the pose is wonderful!
I'm lacking in words to describe it right now, so I apologize if I repeat myself in various ways.
I also love the detail you did on the wall, and the counter/dresser behind him
Those are your prisma markers, right? Whatever they are, you made them work incredibly well!

Thank you so much! I'm glad it doesn't look too awkward- I was worried the balance of the piece might be off, but I think any balance that is off can be blamed on Tobe. Poor guy! And yup, I used my trusty prismacolor markers. One of the best purchases I've ever made, art-wise (I think I had to mow 6 lawns in order to buy them- and I was well paid!
)

I know they're really expensive - I've heard so, at least. I can't find sets of them at Michaels, just to see how much they'd be, but they have them as indiivduals, and if they're the same pens, they're pretty expensive ^^ It's great that you could get them by mowing lawns - kind of like community service I suppose ^^
Oh, and I wanted to ask - you just reminded me (and don't worry about it if not) did you get to scan the pic of Adriane you said you were trying to do? I'm just asking because I'm going to compile all of the art I have recieved within the past year and print it so I can save my files to a CD and get the off the computer - which is slowly getting very old and tired XP But if you didn't get to finish or scan it, that's fine - I know you were just doing it as a sid ething, and you have comissions and other art stuff, plus everything else that you do

I suggest, if you're interested in getting some markers, going through Dick Blick- [link] . They've got some really good deals, and if you spend over $200 on an order, you get free shipping (which is nice, but expensive regardless .) I mow my grandma's and her neighbors' lawns in the summer, which gives me a nice, steady income for art supplies (though this summer, I suppose a lot of it will get set aside for college textbooks
.) My favorite part isn't the money, though- it's getting to sit and chat with my grandma when I'm done, and harassing, er, playing with her cat
Eh heh heh... I haven't gotten to it yet . It is on my to-do list, though (a nifty little sticky-note on my desktop
), and I do suspect that I'll get to it soon, because a) I need to practice the technique I'm going to use for it and b) I've been itching to draw some humans. So it shouldn't be too long
That reminds me, I still need to email you the full-sized Cadenza pic- gah! My email-memory is horrible (you're not the only one I've been meaning to email for ages- I need to take care of all of those soon
)

OK, thanks! I'll have to wait on buying anything at the moment though - just spent the last little bit of $$$ I had on something
Nice kitty, kitty, kitty... it doesn't end well for whoever's messing with the cat who lives over here - she's *tiny* but she's fullgrown (doesn't act like it - she thinks she's a dog and flies around the house like a racecar going around a really deeply-inlined racetrack... she runs as fast as possible around the hous making chirruping noises, and runs on the sides of the couches and stuff, she's going so fast ) ANyway, I've learned the hard way how hard she can bite and kick when a little too happy
And that's OK - I suspected you've been busy ^^ You always have a lot to do, so it's not anything pressuring. Art is for fun, of course
Sticky notes are great I never used them up until recently when I found two little stacks of them - I don't know how I got along before!!

lol, I know the feeling!
Awww, I want a friendly little kitty ('cept when they bite, of course ) My mom's allergic to 'em though, so no cats at my house
Yup, busy as always But like I said, I've been itching to draw some people lately, and since I don't have any well-defined human characters of my own yet, I tend to turn to drawing my friends and friends' characters

For real,they all look so good,I would never draw such a nice anatomy and do a good shade like that.Very well done.

lol, thanks! I think Tobe discovered he has an affinity for pinstripes... either that, or he's just happy to be dancing rather than tripping for once

(also aaahhh teach me your ways with markers--those are markers, yes?--how you come to have such awesomeness on the page. I MUST KNOW. srsly that is like everything I want to do and consistently fail to achieve with the medium)

Thanks! I'm so glad you like it- I certainly had lots of fun drawing (and coloring!) Tobe as Anaximander
Yup, it's marker I don't do anything special- I just make sure to work from light to dark, putting down the lighting first and then building up shadows, cel-style. To do the pinstripes, I colored the suit light gray first, then carefully did the stripes with a much darker gray. To shade, I just went over the stripes alternately with a shade darker than each of the grays. The hardest part was making sure the lines went where I wanted them to go
